March 07, 2013 Thiru Tha. Pandian Ayya Secretary, Tamil Nadu CPI Chennai India

Dear Thiru Pandian ayya, Role of Tamil Nadu And to Pressure India for Strengthening UNHRC Resolution on Sri Lanka World Thamil Organization, Inc. (WTO) is a Registered, Non-Profit organization, incorporated in the United States of America. Since its inception in 1991, WTO has been espousing the cause of Tamils wherever they live. The Tamil people, like any other people in the world, have their inalienable rights and freedom to live with dignity and protection for their lives and properties, as envisaged in the United Nations Charter. We, at WTO, thank you for the positive steps you have taken in reaching out to the Indian Government to support a strong resolution to effect change in Sri Lanka at the 22nd session of the UN Human Rights Council. We also note with appreciation your reiterating the call for economic sanctions against Sri Lanka. We appreciate your party, CPI and its leaders for continuous efforts to spread the awareness to the public in this regard. Your concerted and consistent actions give much hope to the beleaguered Tamils in Sri Lanka. We write to request you urgently, to change the tone of debate from India merely supporting a US sponsored resolution to one where India bringing amendments to the proposed Resolution calling for a Commission of Inquiry (COI) to be set up. The High Commissioner Ms. Navi Pillay on her report to the Council dated February 11 has clearly and unambiguously called for an Independent, credible International Investigation for the mass atrocities committed against Tamil civilians in Sri Lanka.

With the influence you and CPI party command in Indian political scene, and with the support of the people of Tamil Nadu and Tamils all over the world, we appeal to you to make sure that India proposes and extends support to a Resolution that calls for an independent international Commission of Inquiry under the United Nations to investigate the crimes committed against the Tamils. The countries that are part of the UNHRC look to India for cues on the Sri Lankan issues. So India's support for COI will greatly influence their votes and help Tamils receive the justice they desperately deserve. This is a historic opportunity to find justice and bring a dignified political solution to Eelam Tamils and it should not be missed. Thank you in anticipation, Respectfully,

Selvan Pachamuthu President World Thamil Organization, Inc.
