St. Johns Queens Hospital has been closed for 4 years. At the time of its closing, St. Johns and its sister hospital, Mary Immaculate, had debts and losses in excess of $110 million.

The healthcare infrastructure, which was lost after St. Johns and Mary Immaculate were closed, has not been replaced. Meanwhile, the Emergency Room at nearby Elmhurst Hospital is overwhelmed.

Since 2006, ten NYC hospitals have closed, because they cannot make profits from saving peoples lives. Why do we accept hospitals being run into debt -- and then closed ? We need to strike all healthcare and medical debt.
