A bureaucracy is a large organization that uses a particular system of administration.

This system is characterized by a hierarchy of authority, a division of duties, strict rules of operation and documentation of actions performed. Bureaucracies are most often associated with governments, but any large entity, such as a corporation or school district, can be bureaucratic in nature. Terms such as "bureaucracy" and "bureaucrat," which refers to an official in a bureaucracy, are often used with negative connotations because some people believe that this system of administration includes excessive and unnecessary regulation, inefficiencies and waste.

Legal authority is based on a system of rules that is applied administratively and judicially in accordance with known principles. The persons who administer those rules are appointed or elected by legal procedures. Superiors are also subject to rules that limit their powers, separate their private lives from official duties and require written documentation.[1] A very good example
of this type of authority is the police. The police has the authority to make people to follow the laws and ensure the public and social order through the legitimized use of force.

Traditional authority is based on a system in which authority is legitimate because it "has always existed". People in power usually enjoy it because they have inherited it. Officials consist either of personal retainers (in a patrimonial regime) or of personal loyal allies, such as vassals or tributary lords (in a feudal regime). Their prerogatives are usually similar to those of the ruler above them, just reduced in scale, and they too are often selected based on inheritance.[2]
birth into a particular family in a tribe can make the individual a cheif, king or queen. Another example is a parents authority over their child. This is considered traditional authority because parents have always had authority over their children. Exampls of this are, ways of diciplining children, choosing their doctors and schools, and teaching morality and religion.

Charismatic authority is based on the charisma of the leader, who shows that he possesses the right to lead by virtue of magical powers, prophecies, heroism, etc. His followers respect his right to lead because of his unique qualities (his charisma), not because of any tradition or legal rules. Officials consist of those who have shown personal devotion to the ruler, and of those who possess their own charisma.[

Charismatic authority is found in a leader whose mission and vision inspire others. It is based upon the perceived extraordinary characteristics of an individual. Weber saw a charismatic leader as the head of a new social movement, and one instilled with divine or supernatural powerIn popular speech, we think of charisma as a positive personality trait, but for Max Weber, charisma referred simply to a relationship between a leader and his or her subjects. Charismatic leaders gain authority not because they are necessarily kind, but because they are seen as superhuman. Thus, Hitler and Mussolini can be seen as examples of charismatic leaders Figure 1.s, such as a religious prophet

The main function of bureaucracy in any part of the world is to implement the policies of the sitting government with full commitment and devotion. The basic idea behind the formation of bureaucratic structures was to provide permanent government in the sense that bureaucrats kept running the system for the larger benefit of the people, as they were and are civil servants. Political executive in the form of politicians could come and go but the bureaucrats stayed on to look after the working of the governments. So their job has never been the formulation of policy. They do help the political leadership in policy-making but never make policies themselves. It is within the sole domain of the politicians to formulate policies as their mandate stems from their being elected representative of people.
