Minutes of Meeting

1. Discussion of main aims of the project

“European Youth Culture”: In Your Own Back Yard and Beyond


• To share culture and traditions of partner schools
• For pupils to fully understand each others similarities and differences
• Pupils to gain independence and understanding in the context of the visits
• Production of materials for use in all of the partner schools

2. Discuss how we can communicate and make progress with the project

“Communication is the key to making the project work”

3. Discussion into how the project will impact on both pupils and the schools

Pupils
• Pupils will have a greater understanding of “Europe” in particular the partner
countries both geographically and culturally

• Teachers will gain experience from teachers specially trained in teaching SEN
pupils

Cross Curricular Learning Opportunities


• MFL: Learning new languages
• ICT: Communication through blogs, websites and email
• Media: Producing video for language exchange, looking at magazines
and advertising in countries of partner schools
• Drama: Role playing of teenage life
• Science: Looking at health and diet of partner countries
• Technology: Looking at food, textiles and industry of partner countries
• Music: Looking at teen culture (favourite/popular music)
• PHSE: communicating about the things they like to do e.g. football
teams (bundesliga/premiership)
• Fashion: Looking at teenage fashion and possibly traditional dress
• History: Recent history of partner countries
• RE: Social and religious aspects of partner countries
• Maths: Using European currency

6. Planning further development of the project: this is under negotiation as we are


waiting for confirmation from French partner in them joining the project

• April 2008: Germany
• October 2008: Italy
• November 2008: England
• January 2009: Progress meeting

The project will begin in essence from now onwards. KMI and CRO to implement
activities with KS3 intervention classes.
• Completion of application form

• Start research into partner countries
• Pupils begin communicating with partner schools through website
• Development of resources to be used in lessons
7. Discussion about writing a brief for the project: Part of the application process is to
write a 200 word introduction about the aims and ideals of the project

• CRO and KMI to work on the brief of the project.
• CRO to complete application form

comenius project being authorised.
