RRRA ELECTIONS OFFICE [ELXN100320130011, DVSM 2000A] Receipt of Harassment Complaint REQUESTED BY: *Harassment complainants are kept confidential. ACTION: RULING SUMMARY: The elections office was contacted by a residence student alleging misconduct by John Mesman, the CAMPAIGN MANAGER for team A NEW RRRA. The student reported being harassed by Mr. Mesman repeatedly at Olivers Pub and Grill on Carleton University Campus on March 7th. Yellingto the point that people had to pull him away from me because he wouldnt stop The elections office has duly investigated and can assert the following: a.) The complaint was submitted within the 24 hours required b.) Corroboration of the allegation has been obtained. Harassment of a student by a member of a campaign team is a serious allegation. Harassment of an elector by a campaign team member is a serious offence. RULING: The CEO awards team A NEW RRRA a serious harassment violation for the dishonourable conduct of their CAMPAIGN MANAGER. They receive an additional violation for campaigning outside residence, a breach of the Electoral Code. EFFECTIVE: March 10th, 2013 at 10:54 PM EST. ACTION: RULING SUMMARY: The elections office was contacted by a student alleging misconduct by John Mesman, the CAMPAIGN MANAGER for team A NEW RRRA. The student reported being harassed by Mr. Mesman repeatedly at Olivers Pub and Grill on Carleton University Campus on March 7th. This incident is separate from the previous, and the complainant is different, and culminated in Mr. Mesman spitting at the student. Mr. Mesman was subsequently removed from Olivers Pub and Grill by staff members (bouncers). The elections office has duly investigated and can assert the following: a.) The complaint was submitted within the 24 hours required b.) Corroboration of the allegation has been obtained. Harassment of a student by a member of a campaign team is a serious allegation.
