Organize and coordinate the full range of managerial, technical, administrative, and logistical support for project implementation and program development for various HIV/AIDS initiatives. Continuously perform Formative Evaluation for initial and ongoing project activities Monitor budget expenditures and document/report significant variances in alignment with PACANet policy. Manage grant funds and sub-agreements. Coordinate donors and other stakeholders to work on issues related to HIV (already established five partnerships in six African countries and working on four more this year). Plan and develop resource requirements and provide authoritative guidance on critical resource issues and challenges. Back-stopping in different countries to train and evaluate projects or Represent PACANet at professional conferences, enabling publishing and presentation of accomplishments in professional forum. Assist with future program development by identifying opportunities; write funding proposals to meet public health needs. Serve as the primary liaison between potential donors, the country field offices and headquarters.

Pan African Christian AIDS Network, (PACANet-USA, Kampala, Uganda Research Director / M&E Officer 8/06 4/07 Drafted first Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for PACANet; became the first framework ever utilized by the organization, allowed, monitored and evaluated activities, reviewed goals, assigned activity owners, set organizational objectives, measured and saw completion of projects on time. Together with the country consultant, designed M&E instruments, developed indicators / log framework for projects in the different countries Designed model to empower the Country Christian AIDS Network (CCANet) leaders, in turn empowering grassroots churches to address HIV problem. Evaluated and summarized data and prioritized key issues for management. Developed and directed HIV/AIDS situational analyses research project in six African countries (Uganda, Swaziland, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Madagascar and Sierra Leone) which revealed ways they could use our model and increase their HIV/AIDS activities. Developed briefings, issue papers, memoranda, analyses, reports, proposals and other documents on various issues. Translated highly technical information into simplified format for a wide variety of audience.

International Center for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), Kenya


ICIPE is an organization that studies insect life in tropical countries and their effect on human health and food security. Research Scientist 03/82 07/87 Led epidemiology section of Nguruman Project in Kenya. As Team Leader, mobilized and enlisted assistance from over 100 community members in assessing infection rates and successfully eliminated 99% of the tsetse population, significantly improving area's production yields. Performed multidisciplinary research involving four scientists, sixteen technicians and the community in Kenya and improved health conditions in the study areas. For the first time ever, calculated trypanosome challenge for several locations in Kenya and successfully published in peer reviewed journals. This information enabled the sites to be compared and subsequently played a role in the allocation of developmental funds to these areas.

Supervised USAID funded project at Tanzanias National Science Research and Trai ning Center, resulting in a 98% reduction of nagana in the test area. Recruited, trained and supervised 80 staff members. Trained 15 lab technicians on research activities. Tactful managerial skills resulted in 50% of centers retention.

Conducted research in Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) in Africa on shortage of health care workers. Led research study to groundbreaking conclusion that shortage of health care workers exits, and revealing acknowledgement of problem, but failure to address it.

As part of Community Education initiative, gave presentations on AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases to increase youth awareness. Visited shelters in urban areas and discussed control strategies for HIV/AIDS. Acquired individualized knowledge of community. Facilitated lively discussions empowered the community with knowledge on HIV/ AIDS. Introduced a new time for meeting with the youth; eliminating social gathering conflicts, improved attendance by 40%.
