ONLINE TESTS Instructions about the online tests

Part of your assessment in this subject is to complete twelve (12) online tests consisting of multiple-choice questions (very similar to those you will ultimately get in the end of semester exam). These tests will be available for the entire study period, and to make the subject as flexible as possible for everybody, you can complete them at any time up until Monday 18/2/2013 (the week following Week 12). They are worth a total of 10% of your subject marks. Each test will attract up to 1 mark, depending on how accurate you are. There are two major purposes in having this assessment: a) to give you an idea of the sort of questions we will ask you in the end of semester exam; and b) to make you do some revision soon after the lecture material is given, which is a demonstrated way of improving retention and understanding. To find the tests, login to Blackboard and click on SLSY101 Introduction to Psychology 2, then click on the Assessment button at the left side of the screen. You will see a folder marked Assessment 1: 12 weekly online tests. Clicking on that will take you to the tests themselves. Each test will consist of 10 multiple-choice questions. The following schedule is the recommended timeline for completing your tests. Remember that you can do each test as many times as you wish up until the close date (18/2/2013). Your last saved response will be the one assessed. If you wish to receive the maximum mark possible for that test, it is your responsibility to ensure that your final submission has every question answered correctly. ONLINE TESTS Note that you can also access additional practice tests using the web-based tests on the textbook website. If you have technical problems, email the helpdesk on help@swinburneonline.com and tell them who you are and what difficulty you are having.

If you have a padlock on your grade it is possibly because you have pressed the SAVE button without pressing the SUBMIT button. You can go back into the test and, without answering any questions, scroll to the end of the online test and press the SUBMIT button. If you cannot see the SUBMIT button, try expanding the window up in the top right hand corner and then you should be able to see the SUBMIT button. This should fix the problem - if it doesn't please email us. Kindly note that it is your responsibility to check that your test mark is recorded (see your grade book on BB) AND that if you have a padlock on your test you contact us before we collect the test marks one week following the end of our study period. If after the test close date you still have a padlock on your test you will receive a 0 mark for that test. All the best!
