Why children should learn more than one language?

Language is a communication of thoughts and feelings through a system of arbitrary signals, such as voice sounds, gestures, or written symbols. Most of children mastering only one language which is their common language or their mother tongue. Why children should learn more than one language? Children who know how to speak other language, such as English and Arabic will have more career opportunities as these language-speaking populations are on the rise. When the child becomes an adult and he or she wish to travel, further studies or live abroad, they already have a confident and feel more comfortable than many people would because they can be understood about the things that are happening around them. Learning a second language also gives children an opportunity to explore other cultures. A child will be more open minded about the people around them because they getting familiar with others background. When a person being more open minded he or she often have a more empathetic and can associate with a much bigger variety of people for example people in Malaysia which have variety of races and cultures. They will learn more about life and can easily compatible in modern life. Acquiring the knowledge of a new language also increases learning skills in many schools. Problem solving skills, memory skills, creative skills and logic skills required in the process of learning a new language. This helps young children to make sure the patterns that are important to learning in general. They can use references books in other languages if they not found the references book which in their common language which can improve their soft skills. There are many benefits on learning more than one language. Students who are bilingual have more opportunities in the world and it will also allow them to understand other cultures at the same time learned new things. All schools and parents should encourage children to mastering more than one language at an early age.
