From the number of comments/questions that I get, it seems that Mobile VoIP (mVoIP) is growing fast. If you are still not familiar with the idea, I would recommend that you read Mobile VoIP (mVoIP) for dummies. Today, I am going to provide a simple tutorial on how to add a custom SIP provider in Nimbuzz. Nimbuzz is a leading SIP client for various mobile platforms, including iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, Symbian, Blackberry, etc. I will provide a complete review of the Nimbuzz application later, but meanwhile here is a tutorial that will help you started and make cheap of free international VoIP calls from your Mobile. I am using an iPhone for this tutorial, but you can easily follow this tutorial on any other platform.You can even use Nimbuzz on iPod Touch. The first step is to create an account and get Nimbuzz on your phone. Everything is free, so go ahead and do that. Fire up Nimbuzz on your phone and enter your Nimbuzz login details. After you login, you will see multiple tabs. Click on the Phone Calls tab and you will see the contacts in your phone book. If you havent added any SIP account, you will only be able to use your Cell Phone to make calls (see picture below). To add other accounts to your Nimbuzz profle, click the Cell Phone > button so that you can add other accounts through which you can make calls. You can make calls using your Cell Phone, Skype, and any other SIP account. If you want to use Skype to make outgoing calls, just click Skype and enter your Skype login details and you will be able to use Skype with your Nimbuzz, i.e. you can chat your Skype friends, call your online friends for free, and use Skypeout to make calls. To add any other SIP account, select Other VoIP Account. Nimbuzz already has configured setting for a few providers, i.e. you only have to enter your login details and nothing else. For example, if you want to add Gizmo5 account, just click Gizmo5 and enter your login details. But, if you want to add a custom SIP account, select Other VoIP Account and enter your account details. You can get the details from your SIP provider. You can find the Jumblo SIP settings, SmartVoIP SIP settings, ActionVoIP SIP settings, and other Betamax SIP settings. Once you have added the details, you can select your SIP account to make calls. Just enter the number and start talking

If you are using any of the Betamax services (e.g. Jumblo, SmartVoIP, ActionVoIP, etc.), you will be able to make free calls to the free destinations during the free days. Hope this helps you in using your favorite VoIP provider and making cheap or free international calls. What do you mean by "sip contact no."? Are you able to connect to ActionVoIP at all? Could you send a screenshot of your SIP settings? Alternatively, you can also reply here with the name of the field and your entry. That will help me pinpoint the exact error.

I have N95 Nokia mobile with Numbuzz. I have freecall and action voip accounts. Currently I am using freecall. Now i wanted to change from freecall to action voip, can you please advise me how go to my action voip account.

You can find the ActionVoIP SIP settings and then use those to configure the SIP account in Nimbuzz.

i use nimuz for action voip for call to india . now nimbuz is working and all online contect call . when i call from SIP ( actionvoip) the maseege come ......... SIP service not avalable try againe later.......... can any one help me....... thanks

hi, i tried the settings but sip thru nimbuzz doesnt seem to work. im using smartvoip. i had entered sip server as sip.smartvoip.com and domain also sip.smartvoip.com. Can you confirm whether this is correct???

You can find the SIP settings of all Betamax Providers (Rynga, SmartVoIP, ActionVoIP, etc.) here. Leave the domain empty or try smartvoip.com

how do i get to work nimbuzz w/ myspace, it tells me to add conctact but when i enter an email it always says error myspace did not find the username. plz try again...

I tried right now and I was able to add my Myspace account to Nimbuzz. Just make sure that you are entering the right details. If that does not work, try reinstalling the app...

You are right in pointing out....Nimbuzz does not offer this capability to dial numbers after connecting the call. This is obviously a huge problems for lot of people who need to dial extensions or PIN numbers. You can use a traditional SIP client that will enable you to dial extensions or other numbers after connecting calls.

Thank you very much for that very descriptive tutorial. I have managed to set Jumblo sip settings in my Nimbuzz Mobile. But there is a problem. Whenever I make calls, i can't hear what the other person is saying, but that person can hear me i.e. oneway speech. Any solutions for this problem? Thanks in advance.

HELLO :) I have been using actionvoip via nimbuzz SIP account from my PC.Now the credit is over and I cannot find a way to recharge my Action voip account.I get the option to buy credit for Nimbuzz account.But I want to know if there is a way to buy credit for my action voip account itself. Thanks in advance.(i am from UAE and want to make calls to India)

You cannot recharge your ActionVoIP account through Nimbuzz. You will have to sign into your ActionVoIP account and recharge your account from there.

Feature phones (most java phones) do not have the processing power to handle VoIP. Also, given that we are moving towards smart phones, developers do not want to invest their resources on feature phones.

Your need a SIP phone that is compatible with your phone. I understand that Nimbuzz does not work with the phone that you have. Have you tried Fring?

Just enter the SIP server of the provider that you are using in the Domain field. If you are not sure about the SIP server, let me know the provider that you are using and I will be happy to provide you the same.

I do not have a BB device to give you the exact instruction, but the steps should not be too different from other devices. All you need to do is add a new account and enter the Nymgo SIP settings: SIP Server Or SIP Proxy Server: ata.nymgo.com SIP User ID: nymgo username Authenticate ID: nymgo username SIP password: nymgo password SIP Port: 5060 Codec Used: g729 STUN Server: stun.nymgo.com STUN port: 80

I am not sure if I understand your question. If you are asking whether Nimbuzz will work on Blackberry, then yes - Nimbuzz client is available on the Blackberry platform.

Hy, i have a SIP connection with incoming call facility. i have configured it on my Nokia 6120c, everything is working fine but when someone dial me on my SIP number it cannot reach to me, its giving busy tone. But with Windows Mobile 6 , i have tested i can receive calls but call quality is very poor. will anybody help me to resolve the issue

What client are you using on your Nokia 6120C? Try using another client. The call quality issue on Windows Mobile may be due to codecs that you client is using. Once again, try using a different SIP client and see if that help. In addition, I will suggest that you try the service on a desktop SIP client. That will help you diagnose the issue.
