China denies cyber-attack report
Chinas defense ministry issued a strong denial a day after a United States security company accused a Peoples Liberation Army unit in Shanghai of engaging in cyber warfare against American corporations, organizations and government agencies. The report identified P.L.A. Unit 61398 in Shanghai as one of the most aggressive computer hacking operations in the world. It tracks individual members of the Chinese hacking groups to the doorstep of the military units headquarters. The firm was not able to place the hackers inside the 12-story building, but makes a case there is no other plausible explanation for why so many attacks come out of one comparatively small area. Chinas ministry suggested that the allegations were flawed and that China had been the victim of cyber-attacks that have originated in the United States.

Increase in air pollution in China China to impose carbon tax
China is the worlds largest emitter of greenhouse gases and has earned a reputation for bogging down international efforts to tackle climate change. Recently it announced plans to introduce carbon tax as part of a broader effort to improve the countrys environment. Some experts think Chinas carbon tax may be too small and loophole-ridden to make much difference on emissions, at least in the beginning. Carbon tax isnt the only thing China is doing to control pollution. It also announced plans to impose new air-pollution limits on coal, steel, cement, metal and petrochemical industries in 47 major cities. The move came after smog in Beijing rose to record levels in January Environmental concerns dominate the media in China as newspapers warn of the dangers of toxic smog due to pollution, especially around the time of New Year celebrations. Smog can cause respiratory infections, asthma, lung cancer, cerebrovascular disease, and possibly damage childs development. Smog has become a symbol of widespread dissatisfaction in China with the government's growth-first development strategy. Responding to the environmental
