Objectives:
a) Pupils should be able to practice on how to command the Turtle on the screen.
b) Pupils should understand better on the relation of bearings and compass reading
with mathematics.
c) Pupils should be able to improve their estimating skills with regards to length and
angle in PC LOGO.
Procedures:
1. Teacher should make a simple maze on clear plastic using a permanent marker or
get a simple maze from the internet and photocopy to a transparency. Remember
not to choose complicated mazes because it may need more than the allocated
time for this lesson. Also, remember to adjust the size of the maze so that it is not
too big or too small for the ‘Graphic Screen’.
You may also use the mazes provided in Appendix I, II and III.
2. Use blu tac or plastic tape to attach the clear plastic or transparency to the
computer screen. Adjust it to position the maze at the centre of the ‘Graphic
Screen’.
3. Have the pupils estimate angles and distances in order to make the turtle navigate
the maze from the starting point till the end. Since pupils tend to make mistakes in
typing the command. Therefore, correct commands should be copied and past in
the ‘Command Sheet’ provided in Appendix IV or teacher may print the
‘Command Sheet’ and ask pupils to write manually.
5. If time permits, let the winning group demonstrate to the class how they complete
the task.
