Personal Development Plan (PDP) Assignment

A logical question from past participants has been to help them with a follow up action after attending this course. We have devised this exercise in order to help you with creating your own action plan. We understand that there are multiple pathways to success and hence there is no one correct answers. IN order to successfully complete this course, you are expected to complete a Personal Development Plan. Such a plan should be able to summarize where you are in your career and where you want to go. Your plan should have the following components. 1. Your plan should address the key issues addressed in the MAPS analysis. These should include the following: Where are you now? o Abilities: How you perceive your Abilities? o Perception: How others view you? Where do you want to go? o Mission: What is your personal mission for career? o Standards: What others expect from you?

Once you have identified these issues under MAPS plan, the next step will be to provide linkages between where you are and where you want to go. There needs to be some kind of rationale for why want to develop in a certain way. For example: Youd like to move to a new role, and want to prepare yourself for that new role. Youre good at what you do, and have no immediate aspirations to move, but just want to get better at what you do. 2. You may like to use the suggested templates or create your own. In developing your plan, you should integrate material from the lectures, and class discussions. You need to create a detailed action plan in order to achieve the same. There are several steps to achieve your plan: You need to focus on one or two critical competencies you want to focus on. Think of specific behaviors or skills you need to develop. Use of PAL e-book would help you here. Develop you action plan in terms of SMART goals. A SMART goal is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely. Would you need others involvement? Involve others wherever possible to provide you feedback and support. Making goals known to close friends/families/mentors makes you more committed to achieving them. Identify target dates/milestones. How will you measure outcomes? How will you know you have learnt new skills or succeeded in adapting your behaviors?

Key Developmental issues to cover in your PDP: What are my strengths? What are my weaknesses? What are the common feedbacks (positive & Negative) that I have received from others? What other performance indicators have been there in the past and during the LDP that I have noticed? What do I hope to improve/achieve? Why do I want to achieve that? What does it give me? What must improve/learn/experience to achieve that desired state? What are the possible resources at ISB to learn/experience/improve? When do I want to or need to achieve the desired states? What are the biggest obstacles? How will I manage them? Grading criteria: Your answers will be graded on three criteria: (1) the logic of your response, (2) the integration of course concepts to support your perspective, and (3) the clarity and quality of your writing. Our grading criteria are not meant to judge or evaluate your goals and expectations, rather we are looking for sound rationale and integration of concepts learned with whatever perspective you choose to adopt. Format: Your PDP should be 3-5 pages long (Times New Roman 12 point font, double spaced, 1 inch margins). Deadline: This is an individual assignment that needs to be submitted via TURNITIN. Please make sure you mention the full names, PGID, and section number in the submission file. The deadline for this assignment will be communicated in class.
