ENTERING UNRESEARCHED MARKETS
I might as well cover the deadliest sin of all and get it over with since its the FIRST and BIGGEST mistake that I made which stopped us cold in our tracks from getting rich. Its also unfortunate that about 99.3% of all eBay sellers have unknowingly committed this sin as well. And as a direct result, they failed just like we did before they ever got started! Heres the problem.. Sellers Never Researched The MARKET First! In other words, they have never taken time to research the

marketplace first to see if their product is actually what consumers want, are passionately willing to spend money on - AND - theyre actively buying it right now by the truck loads! Instead, sellers just fly their product straight into the marketplace at the speed of light simply because they think people will want, need or like their product and then buy it because they would. Or worse, they bring a product into the marketplace because they see other sellers selling it and just automatically assume that it must be a HUGE money maker or otherwise - why would they be selling it to begin with, right?

You see, actually researching the marketplace FIRST instead of just bringing your product to the market will allow YOU to SELL people what they WANT by the barrel full rather than what you think, hope and pray that they want by the cap full. The TRUTH Is.

In other words, you research the MARKET first to find out what people want and/or what theyre already actively buying by the truckloads and then you sell that to them. I know. youre probably thinking that it cant possibly be that simple, right? I mean, if it were, then everybody in the world would be doing it and making boat loads of cash, correct? Well, the sad truth is .it is that simple. But just like us, most sellers were never taught that you need to research the MARKET first before you ever think about selling a product.

And because they were never taught to research first, they wind up following the wrong crowd and selling what they see everybody else selling on eBay. And as a result of following that crowd, the innocence of their decision blinds their vision to see that the crowd theyre following.. is going broke!

Heres How To Avoid Committing This Deadly Sin.. Your job is to sell people what THEY want. Not what you want. Not what you think they want and surely not what you hope they want to buy. And you do this through researching eBays marketplace first. I cant stress this enough. Here are just a few reasons why.

True Story:

I have had several students who have gotten so emotionally attached to their products/ideas for varies reasons that they are now married to their business and going broke. They wont cut their losses and abandon ship simply because ego and attitude have gotten in the way. Theyre in a prove it mindset and working against the laws of success rather than with them. And the sad thing is - it could have all been avoided had they set their pride, egos and emotions to the side.

I know a few others who wouldnt LISTEN to what the market wanted and sank with the ship so fast and deep that they lost everything simply because they tried to bring products to the market which they thought or hoped the market wanted. I want you to get a clear understanding that the MARKET always comes first, not last! And if you commit this deadly sin then youll wind up going broke and quitting before you ever have a chance to experience any level of real wealth. Or worse, youll get trapped in your business and then just make get by money (and yes, this is worse!)

You research the marketplace first to find out what people want. Then you bring the market to your product by driving hoards of traffic. Next, you tweak your listings until your conversions are printing cash out like a 24 hour ATM machine. And then finally, you finish out with world class customer service which builds the bridge to relationships that unlocks the vault of customer trust which then opens the door to avalanches of repeat sales and rolodex referrals.

UNPROFITABLE PRODUCT PARTNERSHIPS
Sin #2 is the next deadliest sin in the lineup that I committed and it doesnt get any better than the first. Its just a little slower. You see, instead of going out of business before they really get started, sellers who commit sin #2 usually wind up with a slow going out of business death like we had. And this slow death drags on until the pain of poverty and the realization of their dreams fading away becomes a reality. And this happens simply because Sellers Never Created Profitable PRODUCT Partnerships First! What usually happens is that most sellers are so excited that a company will allow them to sell their products that they just jump aboard without ever qualifying that company to see if creating a partnership with them will actually be profitable. Or, they use a Wholesale/Drop Ship company whose already done the grunt work for them by assembling 1000s of manufacturing companies together so they can have easy access. which means that they can start selling their products and making money immediately.

Either way you slice it, most sellers have never taken the time to ask direct questions about selling that companys products to make sure that the partnership is set up for YOU to succeed, not just them!

Side Note:
Let me clear the air here before I rattle a few cages.. There is nothing wrong with using a great Wholesale/Drop Ship Company if you know exactly where and what to look for. But even then - what eventually happens is that you have hundreds of sellers selling the same products, using the same photos with the exact same descriptions and selling it at a price that doesnt allow anyone to be profitable. And when you enter a market that wont allow you to be profitable YOURE DOOMED! Ill talk more about this later.

There are basically two types of companies out there. You have those who genuinely care about YOUR success and those who dont. Lets talk about the selfish ones since this is where the problem is. These companies are set up with only their selfish needs in mind. You can spot them from a mile away because their entire distributor program is only set up for them to make money. They focus on quantity rather than quality distributors by allowing every Tom, Dick and Harry to sign up on a whim like a free-for-all and start selling their products. They do this because their business model is already set up to make them money regardless of how many distributors they have

selling their products. And so naturally, the more distributors they can recruit to sell their product, the more money they make REGARDLESS OF HOW MUCH YOU MAKE! Meanwhile, because they are selfish and only focused on their own needs, their lack of ethical policies pushes the door wide open for anybody and everybody to enter in. And when this happens it usually attracts a lot of LAZY poverty conscious people whose entire goal in life is to just make enough money to get by. Or worse, they attract the weak minded business people who lack self confidence and believe that the only way you can build a successful business is to undercut the prices to the bone. It never once dawned on them that.. Guarantees Professionalism Better Quality Products World Class Customer Service amongst other things will allow them to INSTANTLY DEMAND MORE MONEY - and GET it! In any event, what winds up happening is that this type of competition dictates your profit margins instead of you. And theres nothing worse than someone controlling the success of your business.

Heres How To Avoid Committing This Deadly Sin.. The best offense is always good defense. You should pick the battles that you can win if you want to easily build a six-figure income business. And the best way you do this is by qualifying companies BEFORE you partner with them. And you do this by interviewing them with questions like.

Are you the manufacture or wholesaler?


(I want to know this because we will only work with manufactures directly. We cut out the middle man because they usually cause more problems with shipping, pricing, warranties, inventory, etc., etc., etc.)

What are your distributor requirements?


(Im looking for real companies who at least require a form to be filled out with all of my personal information and a business license or bank account to show proof that Im a real business. This tells me that they dont just allow every Tom, Dick and Harry to sign up. In other words, this should require a little effort on your part to become a distributor for them)

Do you undercut your distributor prices?


(Yes, I ask them this question point blank. Lifes too short to play games and beat around the bush. A good company appreciates this question and wont hesitate to answer it while a selfish company will hesitate or take it too personally)

What kind of tools do you have in place for me to succeed?


(Im looking for a company who provides me with tools like excellent customer service, real time ordering, real time tracking, real time inventory, quality pictures, professional descriptions, automation, etc., etc., etc.)

Side Note:
As a courtesy to you, I have listed the most crucial questions you should ask when interviewing a company. It would be impossible for me to list every single question that you should ask simply because every market is different and I dont know what market youre in.

But I will share this with you though..

Heather and I have a standard questionnaire of about 36 50 questions that we came up with (which applies to our markets) that we ask every company. During the interview, if they fail any one of those questions - then we dont partner with them. Its just that simple. Now I know that may sound rude or even boastful but remember, Im only looking for great companies!

You see, we made a decision after our previous failures that the only businesses we will ever start again. must create wealth for us. And the company you CHOOSE to partner with has everything to do with you creating that wealth !

Tip for creating a list of Interviewing Questions:


The best way I know of to help you create your own list of questions is to tell you how we did ours. And that is we sat down and wrote out how we wanted to run our business, treat our customers and everything else inbetween that was extremely important to running a successful business. We then turned those into questions and used them to interview each company. The end results were phenomenal!

The truth is - most sellers never ask questions much less interview a company to see if they qualify to be their partner. Your job is to qualify them and only pick the BEST companies to create Profitable PRODUCT Partnerships with that have YOUR best interest at heart! And by the way, there are tens-of-thousands of great companies out there just waiting for you! I know you may not think so - so let me show you a cool little trick on how to start finding a few of them First, go to Google and type in the product (or market) that youre selling in along with a plus sign (+) and then the word manufacturers. Heres what I mean using my golf shoe example

Now click the Google Search button and start looking over all the results that it just returned. It will look something like this:

The reason we use the plus sign (+) is to help us filter out some of the junk that will be returned. Youll still have some show up, but not nearly as much as compared to not using the plus sign (+). Once your results are returned, just start sorting through them. Keep in mind that this requires work and youll need to dig deep through your results to find the gold simply because the gold is rarely ever found on the top.

Side Note:
RE: Finding The Gold
When Heather and I search through our results, we have learned to always dig DEEP (50-200 pages) to find the Golden Ones. And the reason why is because great manufacturing companies are usually only good at one thing. And that one thing is manufacturing quality products. They are not good at Search Engine Optimization (SEO). So very rarely will you ever find the best manufacturing companies listed on the top page of Google.

As youre sorting through them, start making a list of all the manufacturers that you think may be a good fit for you. You should at least shoot for a minimum list of 10-20 companies. Then, once youve created that list, start interviewing them with your questions until youve found the best companies in the world to partner with who care about YOUR financial success more than their own!

UNDERSPYING THE COMPETITION
Believe me when I say this.. Theres nothing worse than sacrificing

your time, making the necessary disciplines in your life and investing your hard earned money only to be devastated by the realization that the market you just entered into wont allow you to create any level of wealth. And the reason why you cant create any level of wealth in that market is simply because you found out AFTERWARDS that the market is heavily saturated with armies of sellers all fighting for the same slice of pie. This devastation could have been avoided all together before any losses occurred but heres why it wasnt. Sellers Never Spy On Their COMPETITION First! In other words, just like we did in the beginning, most sellers have never invested time to check out the severity of their competition FIRST by spying on them BEFORE they enter that market to see if its going to be a winnable-profitable market for them to enter into. Instead, sellers waste most of their time spying on their competition only after theyve entered that market. But now theyre doing it for all the

wrong reasons instead of the right ones. When you buy something for yourself that you really, really want - do you lean towards the cheaper version of that product or do you naturally gravitate towards the one thats a little bit more expensive? Its because weve all been conditioned to believe that products associated with a higher price are always better so we are willing to pay more. And we associate those with a cheaper price to be less valuable. I dont play the undercut price game (and neither should you!) that most everybody else plays. If the only way I can beat my competition is by cutting my prices so low that it causes me to raise skinny kids to stay competitive, then I shouldnt be in business. And heres why The undercut price game eventually destroys the market and when that happens it takes everybody with it or worse, everybody winds up working for a living rather than creating a life of abundance (and yes, this is the worst of the two even though it may not seem like it). Besides that - if you choose to play the undercut price game .. You will always attract the wrong buyers You will fall short on delivering tremendous value You wont be able to provide excellent customer service You wont be able to provide them an exceptional experience You wont be able to market, brand or promote your company

You will struggle to further develop your marketing skills You wont have a driving motive to grow interpersonally You will always have too much month left over at the end of your money And, your victory is never as sweet! Now there is a difference between being competitively-priced and just flat out undercutting the market to the bone. But thats a subject for another day. So for now let me share this story with you about pricing.

True Story:

One of our itty-bitty eBay businesses that we use for testing purposes just happens to be in one of the most fiercest and competitive markets imaginable on eBay. Now we use this business strictly for testing marketing strategies, traffic systems, conversion techniques and customer service methods before implementing those results in our other businesses. On average, there are between 250-300 sellers in this market all trying to get a slice of the pie and make a buck. But the size of this market in terms of consumers who need this product is actually small in comparison to ot her markets out there that are much bigger.

Now this is where the story gets interesting

When these sellers started selling in this market the first thing they did was look at what their competition was doing (BIG mistake!). And then, because they all had the same belief system (and their competition confirmed it) it told them that the only way that they could sell the product, be competitive, make money and bring value to the market was by undercutting the prices to the bone. So they all started copying one another to a T (another BIG mistake!) and undercutting their prices lower than the next seller who undercut his prices until every seller was within a few cents of one another. Now as you can imagine, because of their belief system telling them to all undercut their prices theyre now so low that none of them are making any money. Actually, their average sale price is $44.20 with less than a 5% profit margin.

Now this is where the story gets a little crazy

We decided to enter this market for several reasons but the main reason that we wanted to enter this market was for testing purposes. I mean, if youre going to test your skills (marketing, traffic, conversion and customer service) then you might as well test them in a competitive market where

people are giving their products away so that your skills can really be challenged, right? So we entered this market but.

Our belief system was totally different! You see, our belief system told us that we can actually charge more, sell more and make more money than our competition whos selling the exact same product by how well we establish, structure, package and deliver our product to the marketplace. And the reason that our belief system told us that is because the PRODUCT that youre selling is really just ONE PART of your ENTIRE OFFER. And its your ENTIRE OFFER that is really the PRODUCT that youre selling to the market (shew.I hope that all made sense to you ). So knowing that, we knew that undercutting the price has nothing to do with selling the product, being competitive, making money and/or bringing value to the market. Now I know that what I just shared with you here goes totally against the grain of what youve probably been taught, heard, read and/or have experienced. But before you decide that this is hogwash let me share the results with you after 4 years of dominating this market Here we go..

As of this writing, TeraPeak shows that out of 300 sellers in this market, that we have been consistently ranked 3rd since we opened the doors - only to be out ranked by the actual manufactures who take up spots 1 & 2. Now our average sale price is $187.65 compared to the competitions average sale price of $44.20. Their average profit margin is less than 5% while our average profit margin is about 300%. We sell more volume than they do (thousands more) on the exact same product even though we are charging 4xs the price that they are. But our business continues to generate us an annual six-figure profitable income and dominates that market all because our belief system was different . Now I didnt share any of this with you to brag or be boastful in any way. I simply shared this with you because I want you to know that your belief system will always dictate your financial outcome.

Heres How To Avoid Committing This Deadly Sin.. You need to remember that you started your business to make money, not to remind you of a paycheck!
