This question immediately asks the audience what type of song we should pick when before creating the music video. The results show that pop is the most popular type of music the audience enjoy listening to, with indie and rock shortly behind. From these results we then decided to pick an indie pop song as this can clearly target the majority of the audience who I questioned. This will therefore increase sales and increase profit because this genre of music is the most popular.

By asking the audience what they expect to see in a video, this can help us decide what the audience want to see, making it a more enjoyable experience for them to view. By reading this graph dancing and a performance part of the video is expected within the clip. This therefore makes us assume that the audience enjoy to get up and dance along to the video. Instruments are also expected to be seen, this could be introduced into our performance section of the video.

This graph shows straight away that the surveyors agreed that they enjoy a narrative based music video. From these results me and Laura have decided to create a romance story, linking in humour throughout the video as these are the two conventions that the audience decided were the most enjoyable to watch. By creating a narrative based music video we can keep our target audience entertained throughout the whole video, by creating a connection between the audience and the characters, as they want to find out whether the couple get back together again at the end of the video, meaning they will have to watch the video the whole way through. By creating a comical video, this means the audience are more likely to want to see it more than once.

By asking this question we wanted to know whether the audience liked to see the band within the film. After looking at different routes of contacting the singer Ryan Helmen, he does not live in England so would not be able to appear in our music video. After these findings we realised that we could make a fake band using actors, but represented as the real band. The band is therefore more likely to appear in the performance part of the music video, during the instrumental. This would mean that me and Laura need to find instruments as props to use for this section of the music video.

This score is very close; by reading the graph we can tell that the results only have a difference of 2 votes. However, the majority of the audience decided that they would like to see the band use instruments within the music video. This could therefore make the music appear more realistic and live, rather than a backing track placed on top of the video. This would take practice as the timing of the instruments being played would have to be precisely in time with the song.

These results show that there was an equal amount of votes for a live concert and a house for the location of our music video. However due to having little time to organise a venue a live concert may be unable to happen. Cost factors would also have to be researched into to find a big enough area to record would cost a lot of money to hire out. From this we have decided to make our location at a house, this would therefore save money which we could spend on props, costumes and instrument hire which would be a lot more practical than hiring a venue to create a small concert.

By asking this question we could determine what the audience like to see the female actors wearing when in a music video. This very much depends on the genre of the music video, however as ours is a rock/pop song about being lazy, they are more likely to wear casual lounge around clothing as this would link more to the lyrics. Partial nudity is more likely to be picked by the males who completed the questionnaire, introducing the Female Gaze because they like to watch a music video where the women look glamorous and sexy. Males would therefore find the video more interesting to watch, however this does not fit into our genre.

By asking this question we could determine what the audience like to see the male actors wearing when in a music video. This very much depends on the genre of the music video, however as ours is a rock/pop song about being lazy, they are more likely to wear casual lounge around clothing as this would link more to the lyrics. Sophisticated was the second most popular answer, this may be because of certain fashion statements indie has been seen to be smart casual clothing which would fit into this category. We will use both of these, dressing the male actors in chinos to look smart, but wearing a snap back hat to look casual and indie.

By asking this question we can decide what the audience want the main story line to be based upon. The most popular was a comical based narrative music video, this fits perfectly into our song because the male actor appears to be a slob who does nothing around the house, many males could relate to this as they are stereotypically known to be lazy, which would be comical towards female audiences. As romance was the second most enjoyable theme to watch in a music video we are linking this into our video, especially as the song is about a couple who have recently split. I just cant get started, ever since we parted.
