E XE C UT I VE S UM M A R Y
An organization is said to be successful when it has disciplined, high performing, highly competitive employees. It is indeed to align individual goal with the organization goal so that it motivates employees to perform well. To meet all the above requirement it is indeed for an organization to have highly sophisticated performance appraisal system. The project deals with PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL SYSTEM OF EMPLOYEE AT TOYAMA ELECTRIC LTD. The purpose of the study has been to determine whether the performance appraisal used for employees development and whether the appraisal was emphasized an important part of the performance appraisal process. Also the performance appraisal helps in increasing companys profitability. The present study on performance appraisal system was undertaken with the following objective: The main objectives of the study are to understand the performance appraisal system in the organization. The objectives include, to highlight the major difference between theory and practice, to find out the opinions of the employees about the welfare facilities and schemes provided to them by the management, to know the vital aspects and various applications of various principles of human resource management, to find whether the employees are satisfied with the existing performance appraisal system in the organization, to find whether the feedback from the performance appraisal system assists in the employees training and development, to evaluate the monitoring and coaching process. To determine the gaps in the existing system, to find is there any opportunities provided for the employees to improve their performance and to know the process and steps involved in the performance appraisal of the employees. During the session through study it was find out that majority of the respondents prefer the frequency of appraisal as quarterly and the low level prefer annually appraisal. Majority of the respondents prefer that performance appraisal should be based on all (personality traits, behavior and results) and the low level prefer personality traits. Majority of the respondents were agreeing with providing effective training after appraisal and low level were no comment. Majority of the respondents agree with that the appraisal system helps in personal growth of individuals and low level disagree and given no comment. Majority of respondents prefer rating method of performance appraisal system and low level prefer HRA. Majority of respondents are happy with present appraisal system of the organization.

It is suggested that the company should appraise the performance of the employees by giving them some incentives, which motivate them to work with their fullest capacity and to motivate them to work more effectively. The company should keep changing the raters for the Performance Appraisal System from time to time. The first part of project report deals with a detailed company profile. It includes company introduction, history, its activities and operations etc. this section attempts to give detailed information about the company and the nature of its functioning. In the second part of the project report, conducted a research study to evaluate the Performance Appraisal System at TOYAMA.
