Manager of Indigenous Leadership Initiatives Americans for Indian Opportunity (AIO) is seeking a dedicated, multi-talented candidate to join our team as Manager of Indigenous Leadership Initiatives. The person in this special position will play an integral role in planning and delivering AIO's programs, including the award-winning American Indian Ambassadors Program. AIO seeks a motivated individual who would like to gain experience working in a long-established and highly respected nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will be experienced in creative problem-solving, is a team player, a good communicator and knows his/her way around Indian Country and Indigenous Affairs. The Manager of Indigenous Leadership Initiatives will, in partnership with the Executive Director, continue building national and international relationships, and foster the growth of an international network of Indigenous leaders and activists. Responsibilities will include: Planning and coordinating national and international programs: o Manage logistics for Ambassadors Programs gatherings, fundraising events and other convenings o Identify contacts and develop relationships in local communities o Write internal and external communications in support of gatherings and events o Assist in content delivery for the Ambassadors Program o Main point-of-contact in AIO for Ambassadors and Alumni Manage the AIO calendar, including scheduling events and appearances for the President Assist in organization-wide fundraising efforts, including developing and nurturing relationships with foundation, corporate and individual donors Pursue new opportunities for AIO to share projects and initiatives within the community (including structured dialogue facilitation process and Indian 101 cultural-competency training) Represent AIO and the Ambassadors Program at conferences, meetings, and community events Research sites and sources of information about domestic and international Indigenous issues AIO advances, from an Indigenous worldview, the cultural, political and economic rights of Indigenous peoples in the United States and around the world. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Native American Studies, Political Science, Sociology or a related field Ability to travel up to 20%

Thorough knowledge of Native American and international Indigenous issues/relations Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite Creative problem-solver Detail-oriented, with ability to focus on the specifics as well as the big picture Willingness to work in a highly collaborative environment Passion, dedication and commitment to your work Ability to work 40+ hours per week (including occasional evenings/weekends for special events) Preferred qualifications: Experience travelling internationally Experience planning large events and group travel AIO extends hiring preference to qualified Native American candidates.
