19NowtheLORDGodhadformedoutofthegroundallthewildanimalsandallthebirdsinthesky.Hebrought themtothemantoseewhathewouldnamethem;andwhateverthemancalledeachlivingcreature,thatwas itsname.20Sothemangavenamestoallthelivestock,thebirdsintheskyandallthewildanimals. ButforAdam[f]nosuitablehelperwasfound.21SotheLORDGodcausedthemantofallintoadeepsleep;and whilehewassleeping,hetookoneofthemansribs[g]andthencloseduptheplacewithflesh.22Thenthe LORDGodmadeawomanfromtherib[h]hehadtakenoutoftheman,andhebroughthertotheman. 23Themansaid, Thisisnowboneofmybones andfleshofmyflesh; sheshallbecalledwoman, forshewastakenoutofman. 24Thatiswhyamanleaveshisfatherandmotherandisunitedtohiswife,andtheybecomeoneflesh. 25Adamandhiswifewerebothnaked,andtheyfeltnoshame.

18ThewrathofGodisbeingrevealedfromheavenagainstallthegodlessnessandwickednessofpeople,who suppressthetruthbytheirwickedness,19sincewhatmaybeknownaboutGodisplaintothem,becauseGod hasmadeitplaintothem.20ForsincethecreationoftheworldGodsinvisiblequalitieshiseternalpowerand divinenaturehavebeenclearlyseen,beingunderstoodfromwhathasbeenmade,sothatpeoplearewithout excuse. 21ForalthoughtheyknewGod,theyneitherglorifiedhimasGodnorgavethankstohim,buttheirthinking becamefutileandtheirfoolishheartsweredarkened.22Althoughtheyclaimedtobewise,theybecamefools 23andexchangedthegloryoftheimmortalGodforimagesmadetolooklikeamortalhumanbeingandbirds andanimalsandreptiles. 24ThereforeGodgavethemoverinthesinfuldesiresoftheirheartstosexualimpurityforthedegradingoftheir bodieswithoneanother.25TheyexchangedthetruthaboutGodforalie,andworshippedandservedcreated thingsratherthantheCreatorwhoisforeverpraised.Amen. 26Becauseofthis,Godgavethemovertoshamefullusts.Eventheirwomenexchangednaturalsexual relationsforunnaturalones.27Inthesamewaythemenalsoabandonednaturalrelationswithwomen andwereinflamedwithlustforoneanother.Mencommittedshamefulactswithothermen,andreceived inthemselvestheduepenaltyfortheirerror. 28Furthermore,justastheydidnotthinkitworthwhiletoretaintheknowledgeofGod,soGodgavethemoverto adepravedmind,sothattheydowhatoughtnottobedone.29Theyhavebecomefilledwitheverykindof wickedness,evil,greedanddepravity.Theyarefullofenvy,murder,strife,deceitandmalice.Theyaregossips, 30slanderers,Godhaters,insolent,arrogantandboastful;theyinventwaysofdoingevil;theydisobeytheir parents;31theyhavenounderstanding,nofidelity,nolove,nomercy.32AlthoughtheyknowGodsrighteous decreethatthosewhodosuchthingsdeservedeath,theynotonlycontinuetodotheseverythingsbutalso approveofthosewhopracticethem.

Donotbedeceived:Neitherthesexuallyimmoralnoridolatersnoradulterersnormenwhohavesex withmen10northievesnorthegreedynordrunkardsnorslanderersnorswindlerswillinheritthekingdomof God.11Andthatiswhatsomeofyouwere.Butyouwerewashed,youweresanctified,youwerejustifiedinthe nameoftheLordJesusChristandbytheSpiritofourGod. 12Ihavetherighttodoanything,yousaybutnoteverythingisbeneficial.Ihavetherighttodoanything butIwillnotbemasteredbyanything.13Yousay,Foodforthestomachandthestomachforfood,andGodwill destroythemboth.Thebody,however,isnotmeantforsexualimmoralitybutfortheLord,andtheLordforthe body.14ByhispowerGodraisedtheLordfromthedead,andhewillraiseusalso.15Doyounotknowthatyour bodiesaremembersofChristhimself?ShallIthentakethemembersofChristandunitethemwithaprostitute? Never!16Doyounotknowthathewhouniteshimselfwithaprostituteisonewithherinbody?Foritissaid, Thetwowillbecomeoneflesh.17ButwhoeverisunitedwiththeLordisonewithhiminspirit. 18Fleefromsexualimmorality.Allothersinsapersoncommitsareoutsidethebody,butwhoeversinssexually, sinsagainsttheirownbody.19DoyounotknowthatyourbodiesaretemplesoftheHolySpirit,whoisinyou, whomyouhavereceivedfromGod?Youarenotyourown;20youwereboughtataprice.ThereforehonourGod withyourbodies.
