INTRODUCTION
My project e- Auct ion System is based on preparat ion of such site which provides e-market f or electronic goods. Bef ore going ahead we have t o understand about auction and online auction. Her es a br ief introduct ion to auctions. 1.1 Auction:

An auction is a sale in which a seller pr esents his product on a public platf orm/ f orum. The selling price in an auct ion is determined by the bids made by interest ed buyers. The pr ice they b id is based on their own valuation of , and need f or, the product. The product is sold to the highest bidder. A potent ial buyer participates by bidding on an item that a seller has listed. The person who has of f ered the highest bid at close of auction wins the right to purchase the item at that price. 1.2 Bid:

A bid is the amount of money off ered f or an item that has been put on sale in an auct ion. The bidder competes wit h other potent ial buyer s, keeping in mind that the buyer with the highest bid is obliged to complete the purchase with the seller. In other words, your bid tells other buyers, "I want to buy this item at this price." 1.3 Win:

You win an auct ion by placing the winning (read highest) bid and obtaining the item on auction. The person wit h the highest bi d is the winner of the auct ion. Now that you're f amiliar with how an auct ion gener ally works. This project is f ocusing the prepar ation of such site, which intends to provide inf ormation about electronic goods f or auction. This site is acting as middle men connect ing Vendor (seller) and Bidder. Both have to r egister themselves f ree of cost. Af ter registration a vendor has to register its product. His product will remain on our site according to administrator deal af ter which it will be deleted by administra tor f rom our site. Similar ly Bidder can

log on to sit e and search f or a product and can do bidding. A registered user can act both, vendor as well as bidder. This project is a Business to Consumer, E -Commerce web -site. There is dif f erence bet ween W eb -site and a Por tal. Example of Por tal is like Yahoo, Rediff and Indiat imes where as examples of W eb -site is like bazee, delhihotels, jobsahead etc. Portal is general in nature and has many objectives t o accomplish where as W eb -site is specif ic in nature and has only one object ive to accomplish hence our project is a website and not a port al. This is an On Line Auct ion W eb Site on which person can log in and can register himself and can search f or products.

Objective of this project is complete automation and glo balization of auction. W e have used Java Ser vlets, java ser ver pages (jsp) and java beans as Middle W are Logic and Oracle 8i as a backend database.

W e have talked about online auction many times so necessar y term to think about is online auction. Here I am describing online auction and working criteria of such system. 1.4 e- AUCTIONS

Before an Auction : The process of an online auct ion is much the same as a live auction. This means that users place bids f or items, and t he goods get sold to the highest bidder. You are not if ied thr ough email on the st atus of your bids, which is when you place a bid, when y ou've been outbid and when you' ve won an item. To bit f or an item, there is a bidding f orm through which you may place bids on the item. To bid on an item, enter your bid amount. W hile ent ering your bid, you need to consider the bid increment. The bid increment is the amount by which each bid increases. The seller sets this amount. The bid am ount should be one bid incr ement or more above the current leading bid specif ied on the it em page.

Bids need not be exact mult iples of the bid increment am ount. Bi ds will only

have to be one incr ement or more above the current bid to be accepted. The amount of the next minimum accept able bid will be displayed in the "Bid Amount per item" text box.

To f ind more inf ormation about the pr oduct the description of that p roduct has to be ref erred. A descript ion of ever y item is put up on the it em page. To know more about the item and its f eatures, you can make use of the "Ask the seller or Read Q&A" f acilit y provided on ever y item page. This way you can acquir e more inf ormation about the item. If it is convenient f or you and the seller, you can also arrange to personally inspect the item.

To bid on a multiple items is considered to be a special auct ion where a seller has more than one quantit y of the item he or she wants to sell/bid. The seller selects the starting bid amount and indicates how many of

these it ems are available f or the auction.

Af t er an e- Auction: At the end of ever y auction, you would receive an email (if your bid is the highest at that point of time) w ith your seller's (administrator) contact details. You would then need to contact your seller (administrator) to conf irmation of auction winning and arrange f or the deliver y and complete the deal off line.

A bidder can know about the item he/she won in an auct ion once the auct ion of an item you have bid on has ended. You will receive an auto -generated email if your bid was the hig hest and the reser ve price (if any) had been met. The mail will include item details and the seller's contact details. You will need to contact adm inistrator to inspect the goods and arrange deliver y and payment. And administrator will need to contact the real seller to receive it em and work out payment as per the terms of paym ent.

Transaction: The transact ion bet ween the buyer an d the seller can be carr ied out manually if the buyer and seller are in a reachable distance. In other case the transact ion is carried out over the net via Ecommerce Secured transact ion systems.

SCOPE
FUTURE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT
As many business experts growth out of its operation the same stands true for computerized maintenance it has to adapt dynamically to changing structure and environment. Expansion is for betterment of organization. Expansion means addition of services to machine a nd new system. Automation will help efficient working and better performance. Actually the environment is taking new dimensions every today and tomorrow.

According to present scenario, the demand for software of e - shopping has already increased and has already proven it's worth. It is effective as time saving efforts. Quick glance and purchasing of any kind of electronic item is the key factor that is increasing it's demand. It is cost effective software as the facility of auction reduces the cost very m uch comparable to manual system, it also increases the transparency of the system. A computerized system always reduces the load on both supplier and purchaser and enhances security and protection. There is also the assurance of quality.

So I think there is excellent future scope of my application that will ease the working of any kind of system. It has been designed developed

keeping in mind every minute requirement, which it can address in every possible way. Now focus some important points
1. In future various other manual auction systems can be

automated.
2. Instead of having a single auct ion mark et place global market can be created f or specialized discussions. 3. To provide mail f acilit y to the members with the help of Mail Ser vers. Provide latest medical updates and news. 4. It is cost eff ective sof tware as the f acilit y of auction reduces the cost ver y much compar able to manual system .

5.

, it also incr eases the transparency of the system.

OBJECTIVE
Computerized Auction System is developed to facilitate the general administration system to manage the various information of the Product sale and purchase and the processes involved in an Auction. So, that organization can access accurate information quickly and easi ly as and when required, thereby improving its operational efficiency &

effectiveness

In todays competit ive environment, where ever ybody wants to be on the top, Inf ormation plays very crucial role. As f ast as inf ormation is accessed and processed, it can give good results. Today Internet is the f ast way of transf erring Data and Inf ormation over wide area, hence I have used internet as a way f or exchanging inf ormation.

Computer ized system helps to f ulf ill these goals. Computer izat ion of the off icial work s will help in doing lot of manual work quickly. It will help in easy stor age and access of all inf ormation, in short period of time.

e- Auction S ystem is developed to facilitate the general administration system to manage the various information of the Vendor, Bidder and the processes involved in an Auction. So, that organization can access accurate information quickly and easily as and when required, thereby improving its operational efficiency & effectiveness.

Objecti ve of the sit e

(i) (ii)

The objective of the auction site is to capture the Global market. The objective of the auct ion site is to provide automated

inf ormation in a globalize f orm. (iii) (iv) (v) (vi) Make Product Inf ormation available to all. Assure Reasonable Price f or product. Qualit y Product at reasonable pr ice. Easier Transact ion with transparency.
