The following rules apply: The GPS antenna must be oriented parallel to the horizon to provide maximum visibility for the satellites The GPS antenna must be mounted with a 140 (minimum 120) visibility of the sky and no shadow area. The GPS antenna must be mounted approximately 2m above any reflecting surface (to reduce errors caused by reflections) The antenna has included a lightening protective device. To achieve vertical antenna isolation, a separation of 4m is required The GPS antenna must be mounted on top of the tower/mast and 4 meters above any other antenna. When the 1/.2 feeder is used, it must be connected directly to the antenna or to the 9710 C-WBS Maximum cable length between the 9710 C-WBS and the GPS antenna is: Without splitter and 1/2 feeder 50m for direct connection With splitter and 1/2 feeder 100m when the GPS splitter is used. The splitter can be used in two cases: For indoor installations when long cables are needed to the roof to have unobstructed sky visibility

For outdoor installations when 9710 C-WBSs are collocated and is difficult to find four locations on the tower to mount individual GPS antennas with enough decoupling with other systems. In standard outdoor installations when the above conditions are not met, one GPS antenna for each 9710 C-WBS is the basic scheme. To connect GPS antenna cable (without GPS splitter). 1. Remove protective cap from GPS connector. 2. Connect the coaxial antenna cable to the 9710 C-WBS, in the GPS connector.
