Rewriting Frankenstein

Your scene should have between 2-4 characters. 1 or 2 of these characters may be your own characters (not from the play). Your scene will have two parts: 1. What happens to the monster (the situation) 2. His choices as a result (the impact) Which scene will you rewrite? What is the situation in the scene? What do others do to the Monster? The monster was aggressive and mean after felix shot him and the villagers treated him badly. Agathe started to protect him and convince him to be nice.

How does this affect the Monster? What impact does it have on his life? What choices does he make as a result? The monster was aggressive, rude, mean etc. He started destroying people but Agathe helped him to be good and protect him. How will this affect the Monster? What impact will it have on his life? What choices will he make as a result? The monster will be nice and caring. Agathe and the monster become best friends.

How will you change the situation? How might things happen differently during the scene? The monster turned out to be nice and be best friends with Agathe. Felix doesnt know Agathe is with the monster, he thinks Agathe is dead.

NOTE ON STAGING SET DESIGN Scary, unwelcoming villagers town A small cottage in the woods for Agathe and the Monster PROPS Musket for Felix Rocks, wood etc. for the villagers COSTUMES Monster: ripped shirt and pants with blood stains Felix: shirt and shorts that fit perfectly. Villagers: simple t-shirts and shorts Agathe: floral dress that goes to her knee LIGHTING/SOUND/SPECIAL EFFECTS Spotlight when Agathe kisses the moster The sound of the villagers cheering to kill the monster

I chose a scary village for the first scene because it supposed to be people abusing the Monster and trying to kill him. I want a village to show people who are not kind and are trying to get rid of the Monster. The second scene is a cottage in a forest. I want this setting to be cozy so it explains Agathes and the Monsters relationship and how Agathe finally convinced him to be good. What happens in the story is that the monster got abused by the villagers and theyre trying to kill him, Felix who is Agathes brother, turned out to be the one who shot the monster and made him bad and evil. Agathe tries to convincing him and protecting him. She moved out with him to the cottage in the forest so he doesnt hurt anyone and no one hurts him. She used the time in the forest to make him good again and one day she completed her goal by kissing which made him felt love and warmth and he decided that he wants to be good. The spotlight shows that this the monster really felt the warmth and love. CHARACTERS Monster: kind at first but then turned evil but turned back nice when Agathe kisses him. Agathe: Kind and generous, tries to help the monster past. Blind but knows her way in the village, forest and her house. Felix/Villagers: mean and abusive, tries to get rid of the monster

I finally felted it.

Inside a unwelcoming village. The Monster is walking quietly in, the villagers around is looking at him in disgust. Every villager starts whispering to each other and stares at him in disgust. One villager whose name is Felix stands up and points a musket in his hand towards the Monster. Felix: How ugly are you? And who are you? What are you doing in our village? Monster: Me have nowhere to go, you help me? Felix: Why would I help such an ugly creature like you? Monster: Me no chose ugly, me born this way. Felix: I never care, get out of this village before you kill all of us and before I kill u. Felix points the gun straight toward the Monster and shoos him away but the Monster wont listen. Monster: Nooo! Me no here to hurt, me want peace, me want friends. Felix: Get out, we dont welcome you here. Monster: Please, let me. Me have nowhere else. Felix: I told you to go; you dont want me to hurt you. The Monster sat on his knee and pleaded Felix until he got furious. Monster: Please, please, me need food, me need home, please. Felix: NO! I cant take you anymore. Felix holds his Musket up and shoots the Monster in the arm. The Monster falls on the ground crying for help. Monster: AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! HELPPPPP! YOU EVIL, YOU ALL EVIL, IF YOU WANT ME EVIL, ME WILL BE EVIL! AHHHHH. After the Monster blacks out, Agathe enters running scared. Agathe: Felix! What happened here? Felix: Agathe, dont come here, theres an ugly monster here but its alright I shot him. Agathe: You what?? Felix, you can just shoot someone whos ugly by not knowing who they are. Felix: Go away! Its good I shot him. Agathe: Felix, I cant believe youre this cruel. Agathe finds her way towards the Monster and bend down to feel his body; she gasps and quickly pulls him off-stage of the Village scene. The next scene is the forest scene; Agathe pulls the body of the Monster on-stage and lay him down. She takes leaves to heal his arm and suddenly the Monster wakes up.

Monster: GET OFF ME! Me hate people, people want me evil and me evil now. Agathe: Dont worry, I wont hurt you. Monster: Get off! Agathe: Stay, please. I dont want them hurting you Monster: Me want revenge, me will get revenge. Agathe: No Monster, dont, please Monster: ME HATE PEOPLE! PEOPLE HATE ME! The Monster runs out leaving Agathe by herself. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH she hears a noise and hears the sound of the Monster laughing loudly. The Monster enters again but with a meat in his hand. Monster: Me killed a villager, me will eat the meat Agathe: No monster, dont do that. Its not good Monster: You no tell me what to do, my life. Agathe: Monster stop. Monster: MY LIFE! The monster growled at Agathe and attacked her to the ground. He clutch Agathes throat and pulled her up and then dropped her immediately into the ground. He pinches Agathes hand to the ground. Monster: This is my life, no one else. Me can do whatever me want to, me can kill who ever me want to. This is my life. Me no need you to tell me what me should do. THIS IS ME LIFE! Agathe: MONSTER! STOPPPP! She did not know what to do so she just kisses the monster on its lips. The Monster slowly backs away and felt his lips. Monster: Love, warmth. Me just felt, me felted it Agathe backs away quickly; the Monster stares at Agathe then hugs her. Monster: Thank you. Agathe: Promise to dont kill or hurt people again? Monster: Me promise. Agathe: Now go away from this village and find your love. The Monster exits screaming happily ME FINALLY FELT LOVE, ME WANT MORE, ME WANT, ME WANT, ME WILL FIND ME LOVE! Agathe slowly find her way back to her house, Felix was sitting on the table washing his musket. Felix: Where were you all day long Agathe? Agathe: Oh, I was in the forest. Felix: May I ask why? Agathe: There was a job I needed to complete. Agathe smiled to herself still imagining the Monster. The spotlight on her and fades slowly away to darkness.

2 years later at the exact same village, the Monster enters inside the village. Now the monster speaks clearly now and has new clothes on, they fit him but there were still blood stains on it. Agathe is sitting on the bench in front of her house and the Monster touches her softly. Monster: Agathe! Agathe: Who is that? Monster: Its me the monster Agathe: Monster! I thought you were never going to come back. Monster: How could I leave such a fine human like you. Agathe: Thank you, but what are you doing here. Monster: I came here to say Thank you to you. After the day you kissed me it had changed my life. I finally felt warmth and love, I do not feel useless like I used to anymore. Agathe, I love you. I tried finding my soul mate but I know from that day that you are. I love you. The Monster hugs Agathe tightly and let her go gently. Agathe: I love you too. The Monster hugs Agathe again and leans in to kiss her, but before he could Felix walked out and immediately shoots him in the stomach. Felix: GET AWAY YOU NASTY MONSTER!!! I TOLD YOU TO NEVER COME BACK! Agathe: FELIX!! OH MY LORD, YOU KILLED MY LOVE. Monster: Its going to be alright. The monster falls down to the ground and slowly closes his eyes. Agathe runs to his body and cried her eyes out. Agathe: Felix, I cannot believe you did this to me. Agathe is crying over the Monsters body and the light slowly fades away into darkness.
