Course Overview
This is an eight week Earth Science online course. It is developed according to the California State Science Standards. In this course you will explore a variety of earth forms and discover how they are created and their effects on Earth. You will have the opportunity to communicate and learn with your peers through online discussion and activities. You will also learn how to use various Web 2.0 tools to create activities that demonstrate your knowledge of the material. I am here to assist you in any way I can. I look forward to working with you throughout this course and in the future.

Course Outcomes
Demonstrate knowledge of Earths place in the universe. Explain properties of rocks based on the physical and chemical conditions of which they are formed. Demonstrate knowledge of plate tectonic processes. Identify and explain biogeochemical cycles-carbon cycle, global carbon cycle, and nitrogen cycle. Earthquakes-know how they occur and the scales used to measure them. Know the three types of plate boundaries and the structures they form. Know the three types of volcanoes and can provide examples of each. Know the location and properties of volcanoes. Know and identify features of the ocean floor.

Policies
Submitting Assignments: Discussions-

Initial discussion is due on Wednesday by 11:59pm each week. Responses to two classmates are due by Sunday at 11:59pm each week. Discussion posts must be at least 250 words in length. Discussion responses must be at least 150 words in length.

Discussion Etiquette-

Be aware that your discussions are public. Be appropriate, respectful, and courteous in all of your discussion posts. Use correct grammar and punctuation. It is good practice to always proof read before you submit your discussions and assignments. Use your given name to post and respond. Remember-You are responsible for your posts. Always participate and know that your assignments are a representation of you. Collaborize Classroom has free student success strategies. Assignments/Activities-

Each week you will be responsible for: Reading the textbook Discussion Posts Activities (1-2 each week)-Activities are due each Sunday by 11:59pm. Late SubmissionsLate assignments will be accepted but the final grade will be deducted by 25%. Grading90-100%-A 80-89%-B 70-79%-C 60-69%-D 50% and below-F Written Assignments-all written assignments must me ADA compliant. Academic Integrity

Plagiarism will not be tolerated. A student who submits an assignment and plagiarized will receive a failing grade. Cheating will not be tolerated. Any student, who submits an assignment and it is proven that they cheated, will receive a failing grade.
