LX Plan & Focus Notes

(Updated 8th Dec, 2011)

The Very Snowy Christmas

LIGHTING FOCUS NOTES & PLAN
LX CONSIDERATIONS: General wash to include DS area
By the nature of all Blunderbus shows, which are highly interactive and incorporate the audience throughout, its important when rigging that the lighting allows us to play as far downstage as possible. For this performance we also require that the US and DS washes are controlled separately, please inform us if this is not possible.

Auditorium

So that our performers can leave the stage, and be seen each time we enter the auditorium, we would ask that house lights remain on at around 40% throughout the show. (Ideally, wed light the audience with a soft gobo wash, so the effect is more magical).

Gel & gobo

We bring our own gobos, but only tour with size B. If they will not fit your lamps, we have provided each gobo number for you to source. Please note, we DO NOT tour our own colour. If you are unable to provide the exact LX gel colours, then please feel free to substitute with the nearest colour match. Wed always prefer to programme all LX states into the board, but where time constraints dictate, were happy to use the sub-faders, with each state plotted into an individual fader, and manually operated during the show.

Use of Sub-faders

COLOUR WASHES: Wash 1 (Lee 713 J Winter Blue - Outdoor cold blue)
Providing general cover to stage from front, back and side. This wash should have equal cover and be paired so that we can assign onto 2 separate faders, SL and SR, as we will need to isolate each area at times throughout the show. Please also focus to the furthers DSC area possible, as our actors interact with the audience throughout.

Wash 2 (Lee 180 Dark Lavender - Magical Snow)

This should be an equal cover over the stage from lanterns front, back and side. This wash should be assigned to 4 faders on the board of US/DS/SL/SR.

Wash 3 (Lee 102 Light Amber or Lee 103 Straw - Day General Cover)

As with the other washes this should be even on stage. The wash should be focused more on the sides of stage with back light just dusting the DSC. This wash too should be set to two faders SL and SR.

SPECIALS: Special 1 - CS Profile spotted down, soft focus (Rigged FOH) Frost Lee 254
(Rigged FOH) This provides a centre focus area for the performers and should be soft focused. Although open white please ensure the lantern is not cold or harsh on faces of the actors. Lighting the scenic elements of the rostra but not on the truck base. The focus should also include when the two rostra are moved to opposite positions.

Special 2 - SL Rostra, Profile soft focus around rostra truck (Rigged FOH) Frost Lee 254

Special 3 - SR Rostra, Profile soft focus around rostra truck (Rigged FOH) Frost Lee 254

LIGHTING FOCUS NOTES & PLAN
Special 4 - SL Oxo Box, Profile on box and holly bush (Rigged FOH) Frost Lee 254
This lantern is to light the green oxo box when positioned on the stage by the actors. Light should also cover when the actor stands on top of the box.

Special 5 - SR, Bridge from chest of drawers (Rigged FOH) Frost Lee 254 Special 6 - 3x Par 64 with Lee 089 moss green GOBOS

Tight spot falling on top of the bridge (Open chest of draws.) Light should not hit the opening of the bridge. These front lights should be rigged FOH LX bar and be focused only on the down stage area.

Special 7 - Snow Drift SR, Interlocking Break-up Gobo Frost Lee 254 (Rosco/DHA 77738)
This should cross from SL large but focused softly to achieve snow drift effect.

Special 8 - Snow Drift SL, Interlocking Break-up Gobo (Rosco/DHA 77738)

This should then cross from SR, large but focused softly to achieve snow drift effect. This gobos should be large but sharp focused. As with previous.

Special 9 - Falling Snow, Dot Break-up gobo small (Rosco/DHA 77087) Special 10 - Falling Snow, Dot Break-up gobo large (Rosco/DHA 77053) MIRROR BALL Mirror ball (Rigged LX1 bar to light audience)
Both lights should be tightly shuttered to minimise spill whist still providing good reflection both on stage and in the auditorium.

ONSTAGE LX: Onstage 1 - 500w Fresnel (Rigged US behind shadow screen) Lee 132 light blue
This light should be positioned behind the back flat of the set attached to a floor or H stand. Light should not spill over the shadow screen area of the flat.

Onstage 2 - Floor floods x2 with Lee 180 (USL & USR in front of shadow screen)

These lamps should be positioned onstage left and right of the US shadow screen flat, positioned with light facing the flat to act as a cyclorama. Thanks for your help, Darrell Bracegirdle Stage Manager
