Task 2: Personal Response Teaching special need student is a big challenge to teachers in the new millennium.

One of the challenges is the role of technology in special education. Technology comes in various form and give benefits to special needs students. In order to achieve learning goals, teachers must be able to plan and decide the proper technology to be used in classroom. However, students needs must be properly understood by teacher before the learning session can take place. A strategic lesson plan by well prepared teacher will ensure positive outcome which benefited the students from learning session. A successful learning depends on two element which are interest and experience. Students get the benefit of technology in special education when they gain their confidence and increased their ability when they are able to produce and published something in the internet(Vitali, 2000). The students work uploaded in an online forum will open a new dimension of assessment for the students. Positive feedback and comments from people give the students a sense of appreciation and worth towards the community. Thus, students are more interested and experienced different environment of learning. Therefore, we should the grab the opportunity to promote social websites such as Facebook, or any educational blogs as platform for special needs students to publish their work and opinions so that they will be able to feel a part of the society thus achieved their learning goals. There is no doubt that technology is growing and provide many alternatives to special needs students. Teachers for subject like Science need to

be well informed about the latest technology that are available for the students. Learning science sometimes involves the use of technology and students would not be able to participate in scientific activities without the use of technology (Christman & Christman,2003). Laboratory activities nowadays can be held by using computer simulation software in order to explore some scientific concept. Students with low fine motor skills will need a software that operates single switch technology which allows students to trigger mouse click without applying pressure to mouse buttons. Therefore, Malaysian government has allocated plenty of money to the education sector in order to make sure that the digital gap is reduced ( Pelan Induk Pembangunan Pendidikan, 2006). Technology equipment are provided and special need students also being given opportunity to rejoice the technology. Teachers will be the agent to incorporate technology in classroom and take a step forward to keep track with the current technology around. In conclusion, the technology offers many opportunities for the students to explore their learning and enjoy it at the same time. The needs of technology is always obvious for teachers who are proactive and look forward their students opportunities of learning equally as other students. Since that now is the era of technology, we should not be afraid to incorporate it in teaching and learning. Students will get the benefit of the technology when teachers are concern towards their learning development.
