1. We need you to design the first issue of our art zine (small magazine). 2. Choose 6 designers from our list and giving each one full-page 3. Our audience for this zine is university art and design students. 4. We will need a print layout and an interactive PDF for online viewing. 1. Combine type, image, and color to create the zine 2. I would suggest starting by researching each designer, gathering content along the way, and then prepare some handdrawn sketches of your initial ideas before designing on the computer. Let your mind do the work and not the computer. 3. The ZINE size is 5x7. 4. Create at least one folding dummy and number the pages. Take 4 sheets of letter-sized paper and fold in half. Number all pages 1 to 16. Notice how sheet 1 (now called a spread) has numbers 16-1 on the front and 2-15 on the back. This is how your print version will be ordered. 5. When creating a zine you will need to take into account facing pages and where the fold will be. Remember to take into account bleeds, crop marks and trimming. 6. Use at least 6 defined & applied styles to unify the type design. 7. Use no more than 3 typefaces 8. No typos and gramatical errors. 9. Remember that all the elements (type, color, and image) must work together to unify (gestalt) with the theme and/or actions of the ZINE. 10. You will need to combine your Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign skills to complete this project. 1. Choose your 6 designers from the list. 2. Include the following: Create a cover design Zine title Issue # Featured topic (designers) Table of Contents (TOC) Page #s Zine designers name (you) 3. For each artist, include examples, descriptions of their work, how they have shaped the art/design industry, their personal info (born, lived, etc.), and any other info you feel is required. 4. On page three, I would like a self written evaluation of the class. What you liked/didnt like. What you learned and what you would like to see more of.
