Ace Garage Door opens Yukon store


YUKON - Ace Garage Door Co. has opened a new store at 365 E. Main St. in Yukon. The family-owned and -operated company has served the Oklahoma City metro area since 2006. "Our customer base has continued to expand to the point that a second location just made sense," said John Wester, Ace Garage Door owner and chief operating officer. "We looked around the metro and determined that Yukon was where we wanted to be." The Yukon store is Ace Garage Door's second location. The original store is at 1704 S. TBS Factoring affiliate adds services


OKLAHOMA CITY - TBS Factoring Service has started offering compliance services through Truckers Bookkeeping Service, a TBS affiliate that also provides insurance and bookkeeping services. "Many independent truckers expect to have difficulty navigating the new, more complex compliance requirements that go into effect this summer," said TBS owner Wood Kaufman. "The addition of compliance services is a major step toward our goal of providing a one-stop shop for all of our clients' business needs." The company has hired Linda Baggett, a certified director of safety, to head the new department. Oklahoma City-based TBS Factoring Service is a freight bill factoring company created in 2004. Founded in 1968 as Truckers Bookkeeping Service, the family-owned company provided permitting and fuel tax reporting services. OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City has scheduled a free code enforcement workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Civic Center Music Hall's Hall of Mirrors, 201 N. Flaming Lips receive inaugural prize


OKLAHOMA CITY - The Flaming Lips have been selected as the recipients of the first Grulke Prize. The award is named for South by Southwest Creative Director Brent Grulke, who died in August. The Grulke Prize is divided into three categories: Developing U.S. Act, Developing Non-U.S. Act and Career Act. The Flaming Lips of Oklahoma city received the 2013 Career Act Prize, intended for "an established artist who appeared at SXSW 2013 to reinvent themselves or launch an important new project." At the 2013 SXSW in Austin, Texas, The Flaming Lips debuted their new album, The Terror, along with a new stage production. The band played to a packed crowd at the Auditorium Shores outdoor stage, and also a more intimate show at The Belmont. Jurors for the Grulke Prize included music critics, industry professionals and SXSW staff members who knew and worked with Brent Grulke over the years. - Staff report
