Welcome back from Spring Break! It's amazing to see that 75% of the school year has already passed. As we move forward through the end of the year, I ask that you continue to guide and support your child in the following ways: 1. Please ensure your child maintains a regular homework schedule. 2. Please ensure your child brings a nutritious lunch. 3. Remind your child that weather changes are continuous in Spring so dressing in layers is a good idea. 4. Please check to see that your child has adequate supplies to finish out the year. Our school council has developed a parent survey in an effort to acquire your thoughts about Pioneer School. The survey should have been emailed to you. In the event you did not receive the survey, please email your child's homeroom teacher or ask for a paper copy from the office. I'd like to remind parents that our next school council meeting is on April 22. It runs from 12:00 - 1:00 in the school library. We value your insight and appreciate having as many parents attend as possible. Thank you for your continued support. Working together, we can and do create powerful learning environments for our students.

BAND NEWS
Grade 7 Camp Caroline May 6th - 8th
Information packages were sent out on April 8th. Money and forms are due to be handed in to the office by Tuesday, April 30th at the latest. Note: Please be sure that cheques are made out to Pioneer this year. If you are interested in chaperoning please contact me via email - kim.hastings@wrsd.ca
** Students who have not handed in at least one practice record between January and the end of March or do not have music prepared may not be allowed to participate in this activity.

Mon., April 22nd- Gr. 7 Band buses leave at 8:50 a.m. and return at 3:00 p.m.. Band performs at 11:30 a.m. Mon., April 22nd - Gr. 8 Band - 3:00 p.m.. Buses leave at 11:45 a.m. & return before 5:30 p.m..

PIONEER SCHOOL FINAL BAND CONCERT WEDNESDAY, MAY 29TH.

On Wednesday, May 29th Pioneer School will hold the Final Band Concert for 2013, in the school gym at 7 p.m. The grade 6 Honour Band, grade 7 Concert Band and the grade 8 Concert Band will all perform. All band members are expected to attend. Regular uniform

Kiwanis Festival - April 22nd - 26th

A detailed newsletter was handed out to all Grade 6 Honour Band, Grade 7 Band and Grade 8 Band students. The newsletter contains all important information regarding performances in the festival. NOTE: Please note that the last day of festival should read Friday, April 26th.

PROVINCIAL ACHIEVEMENT TESTS Grade 6 P.A.T. exams are coming up soon in May. Times and scheduling will follow in the next newsletter. If you have any questions regarding the P.A.T.s feel free to contact you students teacher or the office.

Kiwanis Ensemble Run Thru Recitals

All students who have registered to play in a small ensemble or solo must attend the Run Thru Recital scheduled after school in the band room. The dates are as follows:

Grade 6 Ensembles - Thur., Apr. 18th Grade 7 Ensembles - Wed., Apr. 17th Grade 8 Ensembles - Thurs., April 18th *All Solos - Tues., April 16th - 6 pm (date change)

CLASS /GROUP PHOTOS

Tuesday, April 30th the photographer will be here to take our homeroom class photos and the group photos of all the teams and clubs. We will start taking photos at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Students, who purchased an " Individual Photo Package" back in the fall, already purchased their class photo. Anyone wishing to purchase team photos, pick up order forms from the office prior to photo day.
