Job Description

Scope: Provides effective leadership to the Production teams and directs production processes in accordance with USDA regulations and Company procedures. This position will work closely with the Process Improvement department to improve the efficiency of manpower, materials, and equipment. Always strives for continuous improvement to provide the customer with the best possible product and ensure increasing levels of customer and employee satisfaction. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Monitors daily manufacturing activities to ensure compliance with company standards and the USDA through manufacturing directions, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and the Outline of Productions. Is responsible for ensuring that all required documentationRoot Cause Analysis, Corrective Actions, Change Controlsare completed and submitted according to specified deadlines. Is responsible for holding appropriate Section Leader and/or technicians accountable for missed deadlines or inaccurate or erroneous work. Responsible for ensuring the SOPs are comprehensive, up-to-date, consistent with the Outlines of Production and are easily accessible within Production to all team members. Ensures that SOP compliance is adhered to through training, reviewing of documentation, observing of procedures, and that any deviations are dealt with swiftly and appropriately. Ensures all incoming materials are received, accurately documented, and stored correctly in a timely manner. Sets a positive example for all team members regarding work ethic, professionalism and operational know-how. Continuously fosters an environment focused on quality and safety and is ultimately responsible for the general outlook concerning quality of process and product. Establishes, coordinates, and updates production sanitation and maintenance schedules to meet short and long term needs, as well as USDA and OSHA standards. Analyzes equipment needs on a daily basis and reviews with the Facilities Engineer to establish/update machinery maintenance and service schedules for all machinery within Production. Manages all aspects of operations to assure a safe working environment. Works closely with the Environmental and Safety Officer to assure a safe work environment: conducts regular inspections to eliminate improper practices or hazardous conditions and actively seeks approaches for improving the overall safety of the department and promotes an atmosphere of safety conscious employees. Works closely with Process Improvement as a front-line resource for trouble shooting and problem solving. Establishes challenging goals and standards for each Section Leader while fostering an environment of positive encouragement, motivation and trust. Providing a clear sense of direction for Section Leaders to work toward and encourage teamwork to achieve goals.

Ensures effective utilization of human resources by training subordinates, motivating consistent performances, appraising performance, recommending salary action and developing for potential promotion. Conducts and/or provides guidance to the Section Leaders in employee conversations related to job performance, including employee development and disciplinary actions. Works closely with the Production Coordinator and Production Section Leaders to schedule processes and personnel to complete the desired tasks necessary to meet the demand. Analyzes production parameters and monitors the performance of each section within Production; prepares and submit reports to the Director of Production. Works closely with the Director of Production to introduce methods designed to improve the overall direction of the process, security and output stability. Actively seeks and encourages subordinates to find ways to reduce cost and waste. Submits proposals to the Director of Production. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Production.

Qualifications: A Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in the management field is essential. A minimum of 5 years of industry related experience is preferred. Knowledge of applied microbiological methods, in a large scale environment, along with equipment and process knowledge will be a

plus. Previous experience in quality, Standard Operating Procedures, and/or general knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations, title 9, Parts 1 - 199 (USDA vaccine regulations) is desirable. Must have proven exceptional organizational and problem solving skills in a fast pace environment. Must be proficient in computers, with experience in Microsoft Excel and Word. Previous experience with Microsoft Outlook and Power Point are preferred. Must be able to relate and compare data from different sources, identify issues, secure relevant information and identify relationships. Makes rational decisions based on factual information and consideration of organizational resources. Attention to detail and the ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines required. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams; able to foster cooperation in others. The incumbent is expected to communicate and perform professionally at all times; discretion and confidentiality is a must.
