Renewable Energy Resources: A renewable resource is a natural resource which can replenish with the passage of time, either

through biological reproduction or other naturally recurring processes. Renewable resources are a part of Earth's natural environment and the largest components of its ecosphere. In 1962, Paul Alfred Weiss defined Renewable Resources as: "The total range of living organisms providing man with food, fibers, drugs, etc..." The term renewable resource also describes systems like sustainable agriculture and water resources. Sustainable harvesting of renewable resources (i.e., maintaining a positive renewal rate) can reduce air pollution, soil contamination, habitat destruction and land degradation. Different types of renewable energy resources: 1. solar energy 2. Wind energy 3.Tidal energy 4.Hydro energy 5.Geo thermal energy 6.hydro electric energy some among the energy resources are: 1. SOLAR ENERGY:

Solar energy is the most abundant and easily available renewable resource, and has been harnessed by humans since ancient times. Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaic convert light into electric current using the photoelectric effect. solar energy applications: There are many domestic applications of solar power including solar cookers, solar stills, solar water heating, solar heating and air conditioning. WIND ENERGY:

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as using wind turbines to make electrical power, windmills for mechanical power, wind pumps for water pumping or drainage, or sails to propel ships. As of 2011, Denmark is generating more than a quarter of its electricity from wind and 83 countries around the world are using wind power on a commercial basis. In 2010 wind energy production was over 2.5% of total worldwide

electricity usage, and growing rapidly at more than 25% per annum. The monetary cost per unit of energy produced is similar to the cost for new coal and natural gas installations. Power generation from winds usually comes from winds very close to the surface of the earth. Winds at higher altitudes are stronger and more consistent, and may have a global capacity of 380 TW HYDRO ELECTRIC ENERGY:

Hydropower is energy derived from the movement of water in rivers and oceans, originally used for irrigation and the operation of various mechanical devices. The Three Gorges Dam is a hydroelectric dam is located at China. The Three Gorges Dam is the world's largest power station in terms of installed capacity (22,500 MW). Each main turbine has a capacity of 700 MW. The total electric generating capacity of the dam is 22,500 MW. Turbine diameter is 9.7/10.4 m (VGS design/Alstons design) and rotation speed is 75 revolutions per minute.
