PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Intrexon Corporation, Germantown, MD

2011 2013

Senior Scientist, Chemistry Facilitate synthesis of new ligand molecules for treatment of some forms of melanoma. Play a contributing role in the synthesis of new ligands utilized in gene switches with applications in human therapeutics as well as in agrochemical industry. Perform organic syntheses on a project-by-project basis employing classical organic chemistry techniques (protection/deprotection, coupling reactions, and borylations). Play a pivotal role in two larger scale syntheses performed by the cGMP specifications. Routinely utilize Waters and Agilent LC-MS instruments for reaction monitoring or quality control. Additionally utilize ISCO Teledyne MPLC instruments for flash chromatography purification. Synthesized and registered in the CDB more than 350 final compounds, a few of which made it to advanced testing (CYP inhibition, hERG) while more than 1500 reactions were performed in only one year. Employed a parallel synthesis approach to increase efficiency and reduce delivery time on projects.

ACADEMIC & INDUSTRIAL POSTDOCTORAL EXPERIENCE

University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia, PA

2009 2011

NSF-GOALI Postdoctoral Researcher-Department of Chemistry Under the direction of Prof. Gary A. Molander (UPenn) and Dr. Spencer D. Dreher (MRL) served in a joint appointment between the Department of Chemistry, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA and Merck Research Laboratories, Rahway, NJ, USA. Facilitated reaction development and automation of cross-coupling reactions of relevance to medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical industry. Conducted research on site at the Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) of Merck and Co. Inc. in Rahway, New Jersey, USA.
