TERROR OF EXTINCTION ON TIGERS

Tigers are a national conceit for India. India has the largest number of wild tigers in the world as compared to any other Asian Country. But, unfortunately Tiger Trade and their hunting by humans is not at all a part of History .The number of tigers is thus declining rapidly and if these are not stopped now that day is not far when there would be no tigers left in Indian jungles Its just not a fact that Indias, may be called the former national animal the lion was replaced by the Royal Bengal Tiger because the no. Of lions at that time had declined to a great extent and they were on the edge of getting completely vanished from India because of their commercial hunting. Lions skins were hanged for presentation by the rich people (and are) as a status symbol, this had (and has) nothing to do with tradition it was (and is) just for luxury. The trade was very profitable and thus The Tigers in India at that time were some around 40,000. So you may be shocked that they are now around 1400 (according to the government evaluation), independent researchers even less. The reason of this is considered that the park authorities still use the old system of paw mark counting which not 100% accurate is. In India the governing period of Indira Gandhi saw an amazing success of MISSION TIGER the plan was successful and gave good results, that couldnt be expected at that time, but no one now accepts that the project have finally reached where every government project reaches ultimately, it have reached the failure. Tiger trade is now on action at a more destructive and faster speed. If you want some evidence of this find out how many tigers are there in Siriska and Panna. Its answer is ZERO, though in Panna a tigress and a tiger have been shifted to set up their family from Kanha National Park of the Madhya Pradesh state, which have two national parks reserved for the tigers with one of the largest tiger populations in India. What the government is doing is matter f discussion and criticism, but can be discussed later

because before giving out our thoughts and opinions we need to understand that actually what the root of this TIGER TRADE is. GO TO FOR FURTHER READING THE ARTICLE

First let me tell you what the Tiger trade actually is and why, from centuries the Indian wild tigers have faced the brutality of the hunters, it became a social status for the rich British officers and the Indian rulers who ruled over the Indian princely states. Instead of opposing the Indian rulers became as competitors in the number of tigers they hunted from jungles, it was obvious that this led to the decrease of the tiger population t a great extent but at that time the tigers were high in number and this too as unable to give a noticeable signal of their deduction. After Independence when the Lion population decreased the government realized that the hunting of big cats can take them to extinction and finally the national animal of the country was changed to tiger and from now hunting was to be considered a crime, this made a problem for the rich men to get their skins, so the villager were started being appointed to hunt tigers for them. The higher the skin was perfectly with its natural form and is not damaged by sharp weapons or bullets are the signs of higher quality and higher price The government of India in the governing period of Indira Gandhi realized that something should be done to stop this hunting. Till that time this hunting had already became a well organized trade and was decreasing the Indian wild tiger population rapidly. So, as a result of all this after governments realization mission tiger was launched. It had success more than what would have been expected it looked that the Tiger Trade in India could be easily vanished but unfortunately it didnt went all the way, till the 2000s the country faced severe tiger trade back in form, and till this time the foreign market was on fire. Tiger skins were and are still used by the Tibetans for representing their social status. The Chinese too took an interest in these tiger skins and other products, many of the

Chinese love the Tiger Bear which is made of the tigers bones and is on a descent trade in China.

Reasons for the trade The tiger skin is used by Tibetans to make traditional costumes which are wore on a special festival held in Tibet, though when after Dalai Lamas appeal they are now reduced to some. But still there is a heavy demand of skins and bones in Tibet. This traditional costume actually is worn by generations and is considered antique and a social symbol which is exposed with pride on certain festivals instead of shame for killing a royal animal. China has been a greater Tiger market because tiger killing and breeding was legal in Peoples Republic of China in the 20th century. The trade in China was very profitable. This led to the establishment of many Tiger breeding centers all over the country, it too had a quite large wild population of tigers but

as it was easier to get the skins of these wild tigers than that to arrange for a breeding center they were hunted at a much higher pace than India as it was legal in China. Keeping in mind that the natural and less damaged skin priced higher. Thus the wild tiger skin was more precious also, this probably led to their merciless killing and the population decreased at a higher rate than in India. For the Indian tigers the problem started when the government stated it illegal. The trade had settled up too many customers that were a bit addicted to the tiger products and many new had started to take a keen interest in it due to its easy availability that was before the new law .As the Chinese enforcement agencies went tight for the traders to kill tiger and use its products in China. Tiger skins and skull started to be smuggled from India through Tibet. God knows what is done to the tigers in breeding farms that are still running in China on the name of Research Centers. The Indian tigers reach China through the way of Tibet which I will tell you later. But this trade as shown units results in the country very rapidly and is now becoming more furious.
