Materials Needed: ring & cups (for scripture stories), Book of Mormon Stories Movie Purpose: To teach children

what it means for Jesus to be our Savior. Opening Song: He Sent His Son (CS p. 34) Opening Prayer: Scripture: D&C 43:34 Hearken ye to these words. Behold, I am Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. Treasure these things up in your hearts, and let the solemnities of eternity rest upon your minds. Activity: Who saves us? Idea from Hatch Patch Creations Children will try to match the person who saves them with the thing that they save us from. Place the who saves us? sign at the top of a chalkboard or flannel board. Put the pictures of things we are saved from in a row (fire, criminals, drowning, death & sin, and sickness). Place the people face down in a row beneath the things. Do not put up the picture of Jesus yet. You will explain that later. Have the children turn over a person and match it with the thing that the person saves us from. After they match everything except death & sin ask them who saves us from death and sin. Show the picture of Christ and discuss how Jesus saved us with the Atonement. Explain thats what the word Savior means. Have the children memorize the words Jesus Christ is our Savior. Lesson: Tell some scripture stories about people who were saved from sin by the savior. You can either read the stories from the scriptures, assign a child ahead of time to research the story and have them tell the story, or watch the stories on the Book of Mormon Stories DVD from the church. Examples: Alma the Younger [see Alma 36:624] (Chapter 18 on DVD), Enos [see Enos 1:18] (Chapter 11 on DVD), Zeezrom [see Alma 15:312] (Chapter 22 on DVD), and Lamonis father [see Alma 22:126] (Chapter 24 on DVD). For a fun way to pick which story to start with, put the included pictures from Book of Mormon Battles on cups. Get a large ring that looks like a life preserver or use a life saver candy. Have a child throw the ring on or candy in the cup to of the story they want to hear first. Continue with all 4 stories. Closing Song: To Think About Jesus (CS p. 71) Closing Prayer: Treat: No Bake Oreo Truffles from Chef in Training

Who Saves Us: Print, cut and laminate. Use to play matching game.

No Bake Oreo Truffles

INGREDIENTS Print This Recipe 1 package Double Stuff Oreos 4 oz Cream Cheese you may add up to 8 oz, I just like the consistency best with 4 oz. Dipping Chocolate (almond bark)

INSTRUCTIONS 1. Chop Oreos up finely in a food processor. Save some of the finely crushed Oreos for garnish later and set it aside. You don't need too much. 2. With hands (or a spoon, I just think hands are faster), mash softened cream cheese and crushed Oreos until well combined. 3. Roll into 1" balls and place on a wax covered cookie sheet. Put in freezer for 15 minutes. 4. While balls are in freezer, melt chocolate according to directions. 5. Pull the Oreo Truffles out of freezer, and dip into chocolate. Garnish with reserved Oreo crumbs before the chocolate sets up. 6. Let chocolate set, refrigerate and enjoy!
