TERRESTIAL & COASTAL NAVIGATION QUESTION 1 Chart No. BA 2675 English Channel Use Variation 4 W, gyro error 1 E On May 09, 2008 , a ship en-route to Southampton, England, At 0700 observed Seven Stones light vessel bearing 350T, distance 11 miles, speed 12.5 knots. She then altered her course to 090T. a. What gyro course did the vessel steer; and at approximately what time did the vessel expect to be abeam Lizard Point, if allowances were made for the tidal stream referred to HW (springs) at Dover using tidal diamond C, 3 hours after HW. [10] When abeam Lizard Point, the vessel altered course to 079T. At 1030 Eddystone Rocks bore 034T and one hour later, Eddystone Rocks bore 349T. b.
