Using a light-scattering image analysis system that correlates well with visual perception, we objectively measured the impact on hair luster of leave-in conditioning formulations containing our age-defying hair shine products. On bleached, gray, blonde and brown Caucasian hair as well as on Indian and Chinese hair, water-in-oil formulations containing the Dow Corning brand specialty silicones outperformed both a control formulation and a commercial benchmark claiming hair shine benefits.

By combining our specialty silicones for hair shine with Dow Corning 5200 Formulation Aid (Lauryl PEG/PPG-18/18 Methicone), it is possible to prepare water-in-oil leave-in conditioners that deliver greater luster than anhydrous serums at the same or lower nonvolatile content. Delivering shine from water-based formulations can be challenging. Dow Corning 5200 Formulation Aid can help you create water-in-oil formulations with high water content that have excellent stability, flexibility and aesthetics, minimizing the need for volatile organic carriers.
