REFLECTION OF FORUM : HOW TO BE A GREAT TEACHER

Teacher is a person which provides knowledge and education for others. A teacher is considered as the man or woman that are fully professional in reponsibilities for the children education and young people who attendance at school. Being a teacher are not easy. One has to be ready in every aspects whether mentally or physically. My class had organised a forum entitled How To Be A Great Teacher during the English period. The forum consist of 3 panel which are Nurul Atiqah bte Azahari as the 1st panel, Mohd Nurhafizu Adha b. Shamdin as the 2nd panel and Khairul Nizam b. Mohamed Zuki as the 3rd panel while Nur Hafizah bte Abdul Rahman act as the moderator for the forum. 1st panel have given the method / procedure to produce a great teacher. From her explanation, there are many method to be a great teacher. For example, the person that trained to be a teacher should informed the qualities and abilities of a good and great teacher. Besides, a great teacher should know teaching pedagogies because it can enhance pre-service teachers in teaching skills. She also state that a good teacher should know children development so that teacher would understand their students emotion better. Based on her explanation, i know to become a great teacher not only excellent in the way we teach but also excellent in order to understand our student emotion. 2nd panel explain about the qualities of good teacher. He said that a good teacher should understand and know the subject, the pupil and other things like humour and motivation. He also said that teacher must be good or at least know the vocabulary, grammar, and pronounciations so what they are teaching can be understand by the students. He also added that a good teacher should be more understanding and knowledgeable so that students can get more information from their teacher. 2nd panel also agreed that teacher should understand students emotion like what the 1st panel had said earlier.

The last panel explains about the abilities that a great teacher should have. The most important thing is communication. Communication will affects the whole procecess of teaching and learning because by communicating only, a teacher can approaches their students. Poor communication skill will cause the learning objective are not be able to be achieved. In this case, iam totally agree with that because without good communication skill, teacher could not explain the topic clearly and student will not be able to receive the information. For me, all panelist had their own opinion and information about the question given to them. They had abilities to explain about in their own way. But from my opinion, if just all the panelist were given more time to give out their opinion and share information how to be a great teacher, much information can be heard and taken as I am a trainee teacher and all of those information can be use when I become a real teacher.
