April 2013

SPRING CLEANUP

Brothers of Upsilon Deuteron teamed up with parents and alums to repair and clean up the charge house in preparation for Honor Scholar weekend, the biggest recruitment weekend of the year. Jobs included finally removing the broken dishwasher from the kitchen, repainting the kitchen, hallways, letters, and bathrooms, implementing towel racks in the bathrooms, and fixing doorknobs throughout the house. All the hard work paid off and improved the house tremendously. A special thanks goes out to Brother Baumgardners parents, Brother Mayas parents, Jacob Moore 11, and Garrett Redweik 12.

HONOR SCHOLAR WEEKEND

Wabash College hosted its annual Honor Scholar Weekend on March 15-17. Numbers for prospects were down, but Theta Delt still was able to give out 11 bids and claim 2 accepts for the Fall of 2013 pledge class. This years events for Honor Scholar included giant cookouts by all the houses, a big event fair in Knowling Fieldhouse, and a belly-flop competition in which our very own Alejandro Maya 13 participated in.

CHARITOS AT CRACKERS

On March 22, Theta Delt actives and alums, and their significant others, of the surrounding Indianapolis area came together for a night of fellowship and support of the Charitos Foundation. Everyone enjoyed a night of food, beverages, and laughs at Crackers Comedy Club in Broad Ripple. Former President of the Grand Lodge and current Theta Delta Chi Director of Development Eric Kelley even flew out for the event.

WABASH FRATERNITY DAY

On April 7th, Wabash hosted its very first Wabash Fraternity Day. It was full of kind words about Greek Life from Dean Raters and President White, a very nice dinner, and discussion. Each house also had a representative speak on behalf of his house and discuss obstacles and triumphs. Ian Baumgardner 14 discussed our constant success as a top charge and our continue battles with a low budget while still being a top house with philanthropy and still vying for the Victory Cup. Awards were also given to houses with top GPA, Freshmen and Senior Impact awards, and Philanthropy award. Theta Delt claimed the Philanthropy Award for our constant work with several associations that include the American Cancer Society, the Whitlock House, Habitat for Humanity, and Autism Speaks.
