About MNDC 2012

MNDC 2012 is a competition made by MDU as a place for freshmen of university debaters to compete as new debater at university level. This is the second time of MDU establishing this competition after the first MNDC in 2011. this competition want to facilitate the freshmen of university to start their career in debating in the higher level that is university. The unique of MNDC is that we are going to also provide the debaters with the coaching clinic. This activity is the icon of every MDU's competition that the aim is not only to provide the debaters a place to debate, but also to deepen their knowing about debating. So as the result, the debaters can even practice what they get from the coaching clinic directly in the competition. This is also to increase the quality level of the competitiveness inside. What makes MNDC 2012 different with the previous MNDC is that we are going to hold this event under the concept of reveal your true self. That means that all the participant are encouraged to show their true ability, to show the world who they really are. This is a very important as a debater to be brave to show their real self. Not to mention, we also going to enlarge the scope of the MNDC 2012 to be a regional level competition. That also means that we want to encourage the other debaters from other cities to also compete and learn together for the betterment.

About MDU

MDU stands for malang debating union. Ath the very beginning, MDU was established after the closing of MNDC 2011 when 7 institutions agreed to have an institution to manage debate proliferation and teaching to uphold and enhance malang university students capability in debating. This organization was established at 21 january of 2012 by UB, UM, UMM, Polinema, UNIKAMA, UIN MALIKI, and UNISMA.

Welcome to the 2nd Malang Newbie Debate Competitions (MNDC) 2012. As the Organizing Committee President, I would like to thank you for your participation in this tournament, which is held annually by Malang Debating Union (MDU) which is an organziation that put a major concern in debate proliferation especialy in Malang city. Reveal Your Ability To The World is becoming our tournament theme. We pick this theme because we believe that every newborn debaters in university have the potential captial to be developed. We

are trying to trigger the passion of critical thinking and ability to speech of Newbies through this tournament. The 2nd MNDC is the momentum and starting point to improve your potentials and talent. Finaly, I would like to say thank you to God Almighty and for all the committees who have done a lot of efforts to establish this event. My biggest gratitude also goes to the UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang as the host of 2nd MNDC 2012, Adjudicators, Sponsors, friends and the others who have given a lot of advices and supports. DEBATE COMPETITION

MNDC 2012 is going to serve you with our best to give you a great experience on starting your university debate career. We are not only going to provide you the great adjudicators,but also we are even going to serve you with the coaching clinic about a more advance level of debating in university level. Using Australia Parliamentary System which does not allow an interruption during the Debate round. Each speaker has 7 minutes 20 second to constructive the speech, and 5 minutes 20 second for reply speaker. The round of the competition:

The Detail Information about MNDC 2012 are bellow: 1. General :

MNDC 2012 is an annual english debating competition organized by Malang Debating Union (MDU). MNDC 2012 use Asian Parliamentary debate system (with Point of Information or POI), maximum time for each speaker is 720. There will be 4 preliminary rounds and 4 eliminary rounds (octo, quarter, semi, and grandfinal) Teams caps of this year competition is 40 teams. 2. Participant Eligibility :

Participant is student of state or private university in East Java. No limitation teams for each institution. Teams name will use name of institution, NOT use name of organization, example : UIN A, UIN B, UIN C Each team consists of 3 debaters and an N1 adjudicator from same institution, no composite team is allowed. Debaters 1st Year Varsity Debating Experience, with requirements:

1) Student from 1st or 2nd grade 2) Never joined any debate competition before in national level 3) For debaters who ever joined regional debate competition (East Java level) in same year of this year MNDC are still allowed to join

N1 adjudicator may from 2nd or 3rd varsity debating experience. All participants must come to Technical Meeting (see competition schedule) .

3. Registration :

Registration payment is devided into two phases :

1) Phase 1 (October 8th-16th 2012) 2) Phase 2 (October 17th-caps full)

To account number 1662-01-001219-50-2 BRI Cabang KK UIN MALANG a/n Asdin Herzegovina. Participant must confirm to this number Vina 085755660535 before and after transfer the money. Transfer receipt must be kept to do re-registration before Technical Meeting.

Participant will be registered in main list after pay the registration fee depend on the phases. Participant must fill the registration form and give it to committee when doing re-registration.

4. Competition Schedule :

Day 1 : Friday, December 7th 2012

Place : Universitas Islam Negeri Malang, Humaniora and Culture Building, Home Theater 3rd Floor

Jalan Gajayana No 50 Malang Time : 1.00 PM 6.00 PM Events : Technical meeting, coaching clinic, adjudicator accreditation, debate exhibition.

Day 2 : Saturday, December 8th 2012

Place : Universitas Islam Negeri Malang, Humaniora and Culture Building, Home Theater 3rd Floor Jalan Gajayana No 50 Malang Time : 6.30 AM 7.00 PM Events : Opening ceremony, preliminary round.

Day 3 : Sunday, December 9th 2012

Place : Universitas Islam Negeri Malang, Humaniora and Culture Building, Home Theater 3rd Floor Jalan Gajayana No 50 Malang Time : 7.30 AM 5.45 PM Events : Eliminary round, awards time, closing ceremony
