Bharat Jagdeo, Reepu Daman, Vishnu Bisram, Enmore Martyrs Day and an Indefatigable Hypocrisy!

! Dear Editor, I refer to the letter by Vishnu Bisram captioned Jagdeos Comments at Reepu daman Persauds Funeral were Appropriate to the Occasion (SN 4 23 13), and would appreciate the opportunity to comment. The above letter by Mr. Bisram makes for painful reading, since in the main it confirms that an indefatigable hypocrisy and an elitist degeneracy informs efforts by some in our midst to rewrite history ... even recent history. These "virtues" demand that no mention, none, must be made of Jagdeo's responsibility and culpability (even criminality) in this "resurgence of anti-Indian sentiment". Ronald Austin, Christopher Ram, Lincoln Lewis, Frederick Kissoon, Stabroek News, Kaieteur News and others have been screaming themselves hoarse for years about the inevitable consequences, to no avail! In the online article The Marginalization of Persons of African Origin in Guyana (http://rogerwilli.blogspot.com/2009/07/marginalization-of-persons-of-african.html ), we had pointed out that it was not now popular to defend Blacks in Guyana, but Christians had a responsibility to confront oppression wherever it exists, and whenever it was opposed to fact, truth, detail and evidence! We had also previously alluded to the fact that in the ensuing scramble to defend the indefensible, we should save the precious gems of intellectual garbage that would surface. Bisram's is an interesting addition to that library. He becomes the newest piece of evidence in an ongoing campaign of the trickery that CRB Edwards alluded to in the online article Slavery and indentureship were not similar in nature (http://www.landofsixpeoples.com/gyltns205197js.htm ). Bisram will not comment on nor poll Edwards position anytime soon! Nor will he poll Guyanese on the astuteness of mentioning Jagdeos name in the same sentence as that of Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela. To place his (Bisrams ) latest comments in perspective, we should begin with his complete avoidance of the irrefutable fact that the administration associated with Bharat Jagdeo has been associated with corruption, racism, death and deception on a scale unprecedented in Guyana's history. We should initially refer readers to the online news summary "Shaheed 'Roger' Khan, Drugs, Dirty Money and the Death Squad" ( http://www.stabroeknews.com/2009/guyana-review/08/20/shaheed%E2%80%98roger%E2%80%99-khan-drugs-dirty-money-and-the-death-squad/ ), and in particular the following paragraph therein since it speaks DIRECTLY to Bharat Jagdeo's "statesmanship" and its effect on an anti-Indian resurgence however conceived: "... Shaheed Roger Khan was one of the most complete criminals in Guyanas history. He acquired vast properties, recruited serving police officers, ordered executions, imported and exported cocaine, laundered millions of dollars, possessed specialised intercept equipment and armed himself with a wide assortment of handguns and ammunition. All of this was possible only because of his special relationship with the Guyana Government. He enjoyed immunity from an indulgent administration and compliant law enforcement agencies. Even now, the administration has made no attempt to conduct official inquiries nor has the police force attempted to bring Khan and his well-known accomplices to justice ..." Mr. Bisram will not likely poll fact, truth, detail or evidence regarding the above article anytime soon!

As to Bisram's strange idea of Mr. Jagdeo as an "elder statesman" we have attempted to address some of Mr. Jagdeo's "statesman-like policies" in the online articles "Greed, Genocide ... and now 'Green': corruption and underdevelopment in Guyana" ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/17958657/GreedGenocide-and-now-Green-Corruption-and-Underdevelopment-in-Guyana ) and "30,012 Gun Licences; Guyana Review; June 1999" ( http://www.scribd.com/doc/7239199/30012-Gun-Licences-GuyanaReview-June-1999 ). In the latter, and to the extent that the number of gun licences (and so weaponry) may have doubled or tripled by now, the evidence suggests in the complete absence of an independent accounting that the administration associated with former president Bharat Jagdeo is or may have been arming ethnic enclaves of the population. This would be short-sighted in the extreme, since even Mr. Carter ... and hopefully Mr. Bisram ... understood and should understand that it takes an idiocy of unfathomable depth to assume that one particular party will be in power forever! So much for "elder statesmanship"! And being a "pollster"! How did this clear and present danger not reveal itself in Mr. Jagdeo's "vision" ... or Mr. Bisram's lack thereof? There is more... What Mr. Jagdeo and certainly Mr. Bisram ... will NOT comment on or show statesmanship about is the inevitable question: How can we from this point onwards commemorate Reepu Daman Persauds life/death, or Enmore Martyrs Day, with a straight face if the deaths of hundreds of young Blacks in Guyana before and during Mr. Jagdeos tenure as President, are not explained, commemorated and/or given justice in similar fashion? Who speaks for the grieving mothers of those killed through Bharat Jagdeos statesmanship because Bharat Jagdeo and Vishnu Bishram will NOT! Unless some sane answers are forthcoming from these gentlemen, from this day onward Enmore Martyrs Day becomes a sham, a mockery on the conscience of Guyana and Guyanese everywhere! In this brave new world of Bharat Jagdeo and Vishnu Bisram, Enmore Martyrs Day becomes a monument to an indefatigable hypocrisy (Bharat Jagdeos) of the racist kind! Yours faithfully, Roger Williams April 24, 2013
