I had the privilege of working as Jamies cooperating teacher in a second grade classroom during the 2012-2013 school year. As a student in her Junior Practicum semester, Jamie entered the room seamlessly and immediately began to have a direct impact on students. Unlike many student teachers I have observed, Jamie began to interact with the children as soon and as often as possible and clearly had a drive and determination to get as much personal experience as possible out of her placement. Students respond well to Jamies calm authority, her fair and direct manner and her enthusiasm for teaching. Jamie has an easy rapport with the students; she effectively uses humor to create a comfortable learning atmosphere for students. She speaks with them in a calm yet authoritative tone, allowing students to remain comfortable while still commanding their respect. In her semester at Wicoff, Jamie has shown remarkable dedication to her craft, and has displayed excellent classroom instincts. She always arrives to school ready and willing to do whatever is needed in the classroom. When preparing a lesson, Jamies lesson plans are always clear, concise and well thought out. When instructing the students, she is always mindful of her lessons objective, and is not afraid to deviate from her predetermined plan if an opportunity to better reach the children presents itself. It has been my pleasure to work with Jamie this year. She is an intelligent, dedicated and talented teacher. Given her success thus far, I am certain that she will grow into a truly exceptional educator. I highly recommend Jamie Ropars for any K-8 teaching position.
