GOOD FOR YOU

Cherries
Help Fight Cancer and Disease - Cherries, along with many other berries, are a rich source of antioxidants. They help prevent or repair the damage that is done to the bodys cells by free radicals. This means that antioxidants replace free radicals in your body before they can cause any damage. Queritrin--a flavonoid--is rich in cherries, and has been found by researchers to be one of the most potent anticancer agents. When eating cherries, the queritrin is set free to fight off all the bodys cancerous cells. Cherries also contain ellagic acid, a naturally occurring plant phenolic known as an anticarcinogenic/anti-mutagenic compound. Some researchers say that ellagic acid may be the most effective way to prevent cancer. Another compound found in cherries--perillyl alcohol (POH)--is extremely powerful in reducing the occurrence of all types of cancer. Researchers found that POH stops the growth of cancer cells by depriving them of the proteins they need to grow. It has worked on every kind of cancer that POH has been tested against. Help Relieve Pain of Arthritis and Gout - Tart cherries contain two powerful compounds, anthocyanins and bioflavonoids. Both of these compounds slow down the enzymes Cyclo-oxyygenase-1 and -- 2, which helps to relieve and prevent arthritis and gout in the body. Eliminate Oxidative Stress and Prevent Premature Aging - Cherries are rich in two important flavonoids, isoqueritrin and queritrin, which act as antioxidants and work to eliminate byproducts of oxidative stress, therefore slowing down the aging process. Help Cure Migraines - By helping to reduce inflammation in the body, the anthocyanin and bioflanoids in cherries also help eliminate migraine headaches. These compounds are known to have similar activity to aspirin and ibuprofen. Improve Bodys Circadian Rhythms - Extensive evidence points out that the antioxidant melatonin, which is also rich in cherries, is significant in improving the bodys circadian rhythms. Since melatonin is found in small quantities in the body, a slight increase can produce great results. Help You Sleep - Melatonin is also found to help the bodys natural sleep patterns. Since the body so rapidly absorbs melatonin, cherries can increase melatonin levels in the blood, therefore improving the way you sleep.

Keep Your Air Moving In The Right Direction

Is your ceiling fan on the proper seasonal rotation? It could save you energy dollars if it rotates in the proper direction depending whether it is winter or summer. Ceiling fans provide great air circulation and you can optimize these benefits by ensuring the ceiling fan rotation of the blades is correct for circulating warm air during winter or creating a breeze effect by moving or circulating the air better, during a hot summer. During winter heating, to help move warm air that is trapped on the ceiling, blades should turn forward in a clockwise motion. This movement will push up the air and pull the warm trapped air down the sides of the room improving heat distribution. During hot summer weather, to help produce a comfortable breeze or windchill that cools the skin, blades should rotate in a reverse counter-clockwise motion. The air movement has the same comfortable effect as when you fan yourself with a magazine to get relief from hot, stifling air. Ceiling fans in themselves do not heat or cool a room, but the ceiling fan rotation allows improved air circulation, which can greatly improve the comfort of your living space.

FEDERAL BILL INTENDS TO STOP MOTORCYCLE CHECKPOINTS On April 15, Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) circulated a Dear Colleague letter to fellow members of Congress to garner sponsors for legislation he intends to introduce on May 6, 2013 To stop motorcycle checkpoint funding. In the 112th Congress, I introduced H.R. 904, a bill to prohibit the Department of Transportation (DOT) from providing funds to state and local authorities for the purpose of creating motorcycle only checkpoints, wrote Rep. Sensenbrenner to his peers. Section 1 of the Stop Motorcycle Checkpoint Funding Act contains the same language as H.R. 904. However, this bill also contains language to force the DOT to focus motorcycle safety efforts on crash prevention programs, not national helmet mandates. Under GRANT RESTRICTION, Section 2 reads; The Secretary of Transportation may not provide a grant or any funds to a State, county, town, or township, Indian tribe, municipal or other local government to be used for any program to check helmet usage or create checkpoints for an operator of motorcycle or passenger on a motorcycle. In addition, the new legislation amends Section 153 of Title 23 USC by removing motorcycle helmets from the title. This change will prohibit the DOT from providing grants to a State to enforce helmet laws, according to Sensenbrenner. This will stop the DOT from manipulating State policies with federal money. CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEE APPROVES E15 PROHIBITION The U.S. House Committee on Science, Space and Technology approved H.R. 875 by a vote of 18-17 on April 11, which would revoke the Environmental Protection Agencys approval of E15 alcohol-laden gasoline for sale to the public. U.S. Representative Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) introduced H.R. 875 on February 28, which would require the federal EPA to stop the use of gasoline containing 15% ethanol (E15) until its harmful effects are investigated further. comment to slow the process down, otherwise the final rule would automatically become effective. NEVADA CONSIDERS LANE-SPLITTING, FASTER SPEED LIMITS The Silver State may soon adopt the Golden States rule on lane sharing, as AB 236 has passed Assembly Committee on Transportation with only two committee members opposing the measure to allow motorcyclists to filter between lanes of slow-moving traffic. California is currently the only U.S. state that allows the practice, though lane filtering is commonplace throughout many other parts of the world. Committee Chair and bill co-sponsor Richard Carrillo (D-Clark Co), a long-time rider, laid out one of the best reasons to split lanes -- avoiding a rear end collision -- saying at the end of the day, I want to know that Im going to come home and not be a part of the pavement or the back of somebodys truck or car. To me, this really resonates. Next step the bill goes before the full Assembly and the Senate. In the meantime, the Nevada State Legislature may raise the maximum speed limit from 75 mph to 85 mph has passed the State Senate 15-6 on April 3 and the measure now goes over to the State Assembly for consideration. Introduced by Senator Don Gustavson (R-Sparks), a longtime advocate of bikers rights who was awarded the NCOM Silver Spoke Award for Government, SB 191 would fast track NDOT to up the speed limit to 85 mph some open stretches of freeways, matching some 85mph speed limits posted in Texas.

MOTORCYCLE LICENSE NOT REQUIRED IN ALABAMA, UNLESS BILL PASSES Every state but one requires a motorcycle license or endorsement to operate a motorcycle, but in Alabama anyone 16 and older with a regular drivers license can also drive a motorcycle in the state. An oversight in the 1990s led to the gap in the law and now DPS is supporting legislation to fix the mistake. The state Senate in February passed a bill to require motorcycle drivers to have a Class M NHTSA SEEKS TO SUBVERT PUBLIC SCRUTINY endorsement on their license. OREGON PROPOSAL WOULD MAKE IT A CRIME TO BE LINKED TO A GANG In an attempt to crack down on violent criminal activity, Oregon lawmakers are considering a bill that would make it a crime just being linked to what it defines as a gang. The big question is how would authorities decide whos a gang member and whos not, and the bill says any group of three or more people whose main purpose is criminal activity, has a commonly known name or symbol and regularly engages in criminal acts would be considered a criminal street gang. Police currently track gang members, but theres no law against belonging to any particular organization even if that group is repeatedly tied to criminal activity, but House Bill 2679 and its companion, House Bill 2851, would give authorities another tool for cracking down on gang members because under the proposed law, just being a member would be a felony and subject to stiffer sentences. The Oregon American Civil Liberties Union told lawmakers it is concerned that the definition of a criminal street gang is too vague. The breadth of the bill and the confusion that will result from its definitions, or lack thereof, risks violating a defendants due process rights because that defendant is not on notice of what activity is criminal, said the ACLU, adding that current laws are strong enough and urged lawmakers to not advance the bills. MOTORCYCLE CLUB PUBLICATIONS BARRED BEHIND BARS Last month we reported that the NCOM Brothers Behind Bars monthly newsletter was being banned from prisons in Australia, but now word comes from one of our own New England states that biker-related printed materials are being systematically rejected. Referring to a note received from a Connecticut inmate, The Aging Rebel quoted on his website www.agingrebel.com; Here at our prison, last year they began to bar books about or by motorcycle club members. This includes the book The Aging Rebel: Dispatches From The Motorcycle Outlaw Frontier by Donald Charles Davis. These books are purely being banned because their subject matter includes motorcycle clubs. They use the catch-all promotes criminal activity while still allowing books on the Mafia, murder, kidnapping and corruption of government officials, all of which apparently promote NO criminal activity. Some people may be surprised to learn that among the other rights prisoners forfeit is the right to read what they want, but as TAR expresses; The high court began to back track in 1987, in a decision called Turner v. Salley. After that case, the First Amendment right to read could be reasonably regulated if prison officials asserted a legitimate neutral interest and the Supreme Court ruling established something called the Turner Test. In a letter from the Connecticut Dept of Correction, the Media Review Board determined that The aforementioned publication was originally rejected in its entirety on November 9, 2012 under Section 6: It encourages or instructs in the commission of criminal activity. This publication was thoroughly reviewed and is determined to have met the criteria for rejection. The publication will not be allowed inside a correctional facility. WEIRD NEWS: ILLEGAL ALIEN RULED INCOMPETENT FOR TRIAL An illegal alien in Massachusetts who was drunk driving when he hit and dragged a Mass. motorcyclist to his death has been ruled incompetent to stand trial. Insane? No. Mentally handicapped? Nope Unique cultural background? YES! Despite numerous previous run-ins with the law, Judge Janet Kinton-Walker ruled that Nicolas Guamans unique cultural background prohibits him from understanding the U.S. legal process. The judge also ruled that Guaman lacks the ability to effectively consult with his attorney, according to FOX 25 in Boston that broke the story. Tom McGrath Leading Wheel Award

The Motorcycle Law Group has created an award will be given every year to someone who has made outstanding contributions to motorcyclists. It can be a single great contribution or someone whose body of work over the years in and of itself is an outstanding contribution to motorcycling. Each year the firm will ask for nominations from motorcyclists. The only rule is that the recipient may not be a member of our law firm. However we made an exception for the first year. This years Tom McGrath Leading Wheel Award (Tom had no idea there was going to be such an award) went to the awards namesake for his outstanding service to motorcyclists over the past twenty years. Ride Free
You cant ride without a bike Having a motorcycle to ride is the first step in enjoying the freedom of the open road and riding free. Having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the first step in enjoying Real Freedom and spiritually riding free. Figure out where you are in life. What highway are you traveling down? (Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Matthew 7:13-14) You may think youre doing alright, but know this: (There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death. Proverbs 14:12; For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23) Realize what you need to do. U-Turns are O.K. (Unless you repent (Turn around), you will all perish. Luke 13:5; Repent! Turn away from all your offenses/sins Ezk.18:30) Know that it brings great joy to God when we do a U-Turn in life. (I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Luke 15:7) Embrace Gods Love, Plan, and Life for You (For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16) Gods way is better than anything we could ever come up with. (He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain Revelation 21:4) Enjoy the ride. God wants us to enjoy the trip. Life is a highway,

going the right way, watching out for potholes, and not breaking down is important to the enjoyment factor of any ride. (The thief (Satan/Devil/PUNK) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10) If you feel there needs to be a change in your life and you are ready for some Real Freedom, then read Romans 10:9-13 in the Bible (Our Owners Manual for life), and simply ask God to forgive you, U-turn your life, and head you in the right direction. If you ask this of God, or if you have more questions, contact us. This is NOT a ride to make alone. Let us ride with you. Contact a Local FBC or our Home Office.

My flight was being served by an obviously gay flight attendant, who seemed to put everyone in a good mood as he served us food and drinks. As the plane prepared to descend, he came swishing down the aisle and told us that Captain Marvey has asked me to announce that hell be landing the big scary plane shortly, so lovely people, if you could just put your trays up, that would be super. On his trip back up the aisle, he noticed this well-dressed and rather Arabic looking woman hadnt moved a muscle. Perhaps you didnt hear me over those big brute engines but I asked you to raise your trazy-poo, so the main man can pitty-pat us on the ground. She calmly turned her head and said, In my country, I am called a Princess and I take orders from no one. To which the flight attendant replied, without missing a beat...... Well, sweet-cheeks, in my country Im called a Queen, so I outrank you. Tray-up, B*#@%! I was in a pub last Saturday night, drank a few, and noticed two very large women by the bar. They both had pretty strong accents, so I asked, Hey, are you two ladies from Ireland? One of them chirped saying, Its WALES, ya idiot! So, I immediately apologized and said, Im sorry. Are you two whales from Ireland? Thats pretty much the last thing I remember... Two blonds find three grenades, and they decide to take them to a police station. One asked: What if one explodes before we get there? The other says: Well lie and say we only found two. A blonde is in the bathroom and her husband shouts: Did you find the shampoo? She answers, Yes, but Im not sure what to do... its for dry hair, and Ive just wet mine. Im reaching out on behalf of a buddy of mine who needs some help! His wife told him to go out & get some of those pills that would help him get an erection. When he came back, he handed her some diet pills. Anyway, hes looking for a place to live.

A woman goes to the Doctor, worried about her husbands temper. The Doctor asks: Whats the problem? The woman says: Doctor, I dont know what to do. Every day my husband seems to lose his temper for no reason, and it scares me. The Doctor says: I have a cure for that. When it seems that your husband is getting angry, just take a glass of water and start swishing it in your mouth. Just swish and swish but dont swallow it until he either leaves the room or goes to bed and falls asleep. Two weeks later the woman comes back to the doctor, looking fresh and reborn. The woman says: Doctor that was a brilliant idea! Every time my husband started losing it, I swished with water. I swished and swished, and he calmed right down! How does a glass of water do that? The Doctor says: The water itself does nothing. Its keeping your mouth shut for long periods of time that does the trick.... Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the hospital swimming pool, Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there. Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Ednas heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she now considered her to be mentally stable. When she went to tell Edna the news she said, Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is youre being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life of the person you love... I have concluded that your act displays sound mindedness. The bad news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so saddened, but hes dead. Edna replied, He didnt hang himself, I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home? LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE, BIKERS!

CINCO de MAYO BACON & BOURBON WINGS *For bigger crowds just double or triple recipe 24 Mini Drumsticks (legs) & Wings; mixed Large Bottle of Peanut Oil for Frying 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar (*optional) 3 Cloves of Garlic; finely chopped 1/2 tsp. Prepared Horseradish 1/4 tsp. Ground Ginger 1/2 Stick of Real Butter 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce 3/4 Cup of Bourbon 3/4 Cup of Ketchup A few hefty dashes of Louisiana Hot Sauce 12 Strips of Cooked Bacon I quit frying bacon years ago once I learned that if you take a large cookie sheet and put a wired rack over top and lay out all the bacon you want on it and cook at 475 degree oven for 15 minutes; remove to paper towels to drain, your bacon is perfect every single time and no spatters all over the place, including your fingers and wrists. Perfect every time. Just know 15 mins is crispy crunchy, so if you prefer non crispy, adjust the length of time you leave in oven. Melt down your butter and add all other ingredients; cook for apprx. 10 minutes over medium heat. Get a large deep-sided skillet and fry up your legs & wings in hot! peanut oil; 370 degrees. While frying, cut your drained bacon strips in half. Remove wings from frying oil directly onto paper towels. Let cool just slightly and wrap them in a half bacon strip and secure with a toothpick. Once your sauce has cooked down, place your chicken in the sauce and make sure theyre swimming in sauce and well covered completely and allow to remain in there a bit to soak up the fabulous flavors. Serve up with cold Bleu Cheese dressing. The flavor is amazing. EXTRA-LARGE PORTOBELLO MUSHROOMS w/ BACON & BLEU CHEESE for MOTHERS DAY as prepared by Michael Symon on The Chew 5 Portobello Mushrooms (clean with damp paper towel only) 2 Tbls. Butter 1/2 Lb. Sliced Smoked Bacon (chopped)

1 Sweet Onion; finely chopped 3 Tbls. All-Purpose Flour 2 Cups of Chicken Stock 1/2 Cup of Whole Milk 3/4 Cup of Bleu Cheese 1/2 Cup of Parsley (chopped or dried) Olive Oil Salt & Pepper to taste In a large saute pan over medium heat add 2 Tbls. of olive oil. Add the chopped bacon and cook until crisp. Remove the bacon w/ a slotted spoon to a non-coated paper plate. Add the shrooms to the bacon fat & season with salt & pepper. Cook 3-4 mins. until golden brown, then flip, season again and cook until golden brown again. Remove the shrooms from the pan to a serving platter. Add the onion to the renderings and season w/ salt & pepper and cook until the onion is translucent. Add the butter and then toss back in the bacon and sprinkle the flour over the onion & bacon mixture. Cook, stirring constantly until the flour begins to look sandy. Slowly pour in the chicken stock & scrape up any brown bits on bottom of the pan. Once the gravy starts to thicken & simmer, pour in the milk. Add the bleu cheese & cook until the gravy coats the back of the spoon; about 5 mins. Taste & adjust seasoning. Add the parsley. Spoon the gravy generously over the tops of the mushrooms and serve. * Portobellos are so texturally meaty theyre the steak of shrooms. MEMORIAL DAY RED, WHITE & BLUE LAYERED TIRAMISU 1 Tub of Whipped Philly Cream Cheese Spread 2 Cups of Cold Milk 1 Pkg. Jell-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding 1-1/2 Cups Thawed Cool Whip Topping 1 Pkg. The DUKE
The DUKE was built by PB CHOPPERS in Moravia, Iowa. The designer and builder is JIM WUBBEN. My lifelong shop help includes Ricky, Big John, and Buckwheat. I started with the dream of honoring my actor hero John Wayne. I called my artist Monte Moore in Denver Colorado and asked him if he wanted to be a part of the build and he instantly said, John Wayne was and still is my hero and Yes, Im in. I have always wanted to do a sidecar bike and decided to use a lowlife frame as the foundation. Every sidecar I found here in the states was made of fiberglass so I began the mission of finding one made of steel. With my heritage being German I decided on a STEIB and since I was born in 1953 the final answer is... A 1953 Steib all steel, replica, handmade exactly the way they were made back in the day. Five months later the sidecar lands in Omaha and passes all the import inspections and is ready to be picked up. I had Mondo of Denvers Choppers build the springer, TP Engineering the 124 Show Polished/ Chromed Diamond Cut Heads power plant, Baker Drivetrain the Show Polished/Chromed 6spd tranny, and Ride Wright Fat Daddy 50 spoke engraved wheels. All the sheet metal was done here in the shop and Danny Gray finished the build with his mind blowing leather work. Monte and I spent several hundred hours designing the paint scheme and decided to have the bike represent the COWBOY and the sidecar the WAR hero through a select group of films the DUKE starred in. A special thanks to Rich Kohles for inviting me to be one of his celebrity guests at the Timonium Motorcycle Event where I unveiled the DUKE to his sold out crowd. I hope you enjoy the photos my buddy SKIBO ADAMS took of the unveiling. I am going to take the bike to the John Wayne Birthplace here in Winterset Iowa just 90 miles from my shop to kick of the 2013 DUKE TOUR and then off to California to have the family see what I have built in honor of their lost Icon. The bike will be available for appearances throughout the year so if you are interested in having the DUKE at your special event feel free to contact me to join the tour. Lets Get Tattooed

I have been tattooing now for almost 14 years, and it is still as fun as it was when I first got started. I got into tattooing late in life and wish that I had done it sooner, but back when I got my first tattoo, it was completely different than it is today. Tattooing has finally become mainstream, and in my words, trendy. Back when I first started getting tattoos, it was something you did to rebel or you were making a bold statement. Gone is the phrase of Jack London, Show me a man with a tattoo and I will show you a man with an interesting story. I want to be different but now Im like everyone else, but I will say this - My tattoos mean something to me and they should mean something to you. So whenever thinking about a tattoo, I always recommend to people to get something that means something and has a great story that goes along with it. So with this in mind, let me move on to bigger and better things. As I said, I have been tattooing for a while now and I own three shops and we are coming out with a 32 mobile tattoo studio. The bus, as I like to call it, will be coming to all areas of Virginia and tattooing the masses in a clean and sterile environment just like our shops are. Yes a 32 mobile tattoo studio where you can GET ON and GET OFF with a custom tattoo in the comforts of a climate controlled surroundings thanks to Graffitis Ink Gallery and a few others that are helping me transform the tattoo mecca that I call Graffitis. In the world of reality shows about everything from tattooing to wrestling wild animals, we at Graffitis are looking to make a stab at reality TV with this mobile tour bus that can come to events in the area or you can, if you want, rent it for your own event and become trendy and get tattooed in the comforts of where you are happening to be. So look out Virginia.the Graffitis Ink Gallery mobile tattoo bus will be out there and we can now set up shop anywhere to promote your trendy self or your rebellious nature.
