Why so few students read newspaper.

The newspaper is probably one of the oldest forms of reading documents. People in the past centuries were somehow committed to reading the newspaper, and it was even considered to be a hobby. Over time, the interest for reading the paper has dramatically decreased especially among those born in the recent generation. Few students read the newspaper because of the evolution of technology, the dying value of paper, and the mentality of young people.

Over time, reading the newspaper has become an archaic thing to do, and more so among the student population. One of the reasons behind this phenomenon is the technologic explosion that marked the last twenty years. With that remarkable growth of technology, communication has drastically changed, crossing the boundaries of paper. Today information is easily accessible because of the internet and all the handy devices, which make newspapers quite useless. Very few students pay attention to the daily newspaper because one click can automatically give you access to the news. And by the time the paper get to somebodys doorstep the news has already expired because of television, social media, and all the different websites diffusing information.

Technology is largely responsible for lack of interest that students display for newspapers; however, one occurrence observed in the millennial generation is the dying value of paper. Paper of any forms used to be the resource of knowledge, but that pertains to the past right now. Students barely refer to books for their academic work; they pay even less attention to newspaper because any documents in the form of paper seem outdated. Paper is slowly losing its value for the reason that in this present world anything can be replaced by some hi-tech alternative.

The newspaper was the main way to transmit information ages ago. Technology and the shrinking value of paper are to blame, but the mentality of young people is also accountable for that matter. Students in their twenties have a special insight on some traditions; they like to label those customs as old-fashioned, and reading the newspaper falls into that category of antediluvian habits. A considerable amount of students consider reading newspaper as a something only their grandparents should do; therefore they prefer activities that are to them age appropriate.

It appears that few students read the newspaper, and the cause to that effect is that the millennial generation is very different and so is the context of todays life. Nowadays technology has made communication totally accessible making newspaper pointless. Also the significance of paper has died down across time making young people less prompted to pick up the journal. Finally, because of their mentality students see newspaper as pass.
