link between any of the OptiView chiller micro panels and a LONWORKS network. The Gateway is contained within a single enclosure (Figure 1) designed for indoor applications. Inside the enclosure resides a Modbus MicroGateway which connects to the OptiView micro panel, a network adapter which connects to the LONWORKS network, and a power supply that supports both modules. Two communication ports allow simultaneous connection to the LON network and the OptiView micro panel. The power supply is capable of operating over a wide voltage range, supporting input line voltages from 90 to 260 VAC. Using switch-selectable Quick Start configurations, interfacing to the chillers micro panel is quick and easy. This method adjusts the Gateway for a particular type of OptiView micro panel, e.g. YK, YT with VSD, etc. No special software or tools are required. Commissioning the LONWORKS network is achieved by using standard configuration tools.

Network Connectivity
The Gateway for LONWORKS is a simple to install device that easily connects to the LON network through a TP/FT-10 connection. The OptiView chiller is connected to the Gateway through a shielded, 3-core RS232 cable.

Functionality
The Gateway for LONWORKS is a peer device on a LONWORKS network. It makes OptiView chiller data available to other LON devices by the use of standard LON services. The Wink LED and Service Pin are also supported. If, during power up, the Service Pin is held for 5 seconds, the Gateway automatically decommissions. This feature takes the unit offline during extended periods for chiller maintenance.

Data Mapping
The Echelon network adapter is programmed to retrieve data from the Modbus MicroGateway by interfacing with a table of preconfigured Modbus Registers. This includes all the mandatory, as well as most of the optional, SNVTs defined by the LONMARK 8040 chiller profile. The YORK LONWORKS Gateway enhances the LONMARK profile by adding several important network variables unique to the OptiView chiller line. Figure 4 shows the LONMARK functional profile, highlighting both the mandatory and optional SNVTs. The user may also augment the LonMark profile with six additional chiller values. These user-defined SNVTS are selected from pre-mapped Modbus address points. This allows customization on a site-bysite basis, as well as adding diagnostic capabilities.

NOTE: Refer to the Installation Manual for the complete LONMARK Object Profile for the different chiller configurations.
Second, the connection to the LONWORKS network is established by using a suitable LONWORKS network tool. This tool is used to bind the SNVTs from the Gateway for LONWORKS to any other LONWORKS controller.
Configuration Tools
Configuring the Gateway for LonWorks is accomplished in two distinct steps. First, the type of OptiView chiller is setup by using the Quick Start feature on the Modbus MicroGateway. This consists of setting a DIP switch to load the proper chiller profile.
Diagnostics
Communications to the chiller panel may be diagnosed by observing the communication LEDs on the Modbus MicroGateway. The LONWORKS Service Pin and Wink LED on the network adapter, in conjunction with a LonWorks diagnostic utility, provide a method of diagnosing the LonWork network.
