This lesson is the beginning of a unit of the basic things that go along with civics. C13.3.2 Discuss that democracy involves voting, majority rule, and Today, students will learn setting rules. about a democracy and learn what makes up a democracy.

In this lesson, students will learn about why rules and laws are created. They will learn about why it is important to follow these rules and laws.

C13.3.1 Identify and discuss examples of rules, laws, and authorities that keep people safe and property secure.

THURSDAY week #1

This lesson will allow students to discover who their President is. This lesson will also have students identify their mayor.

C14.3.1 Name the current President of the United States. C14.3.2 Name the current mayor of the town.

In this lesson, students will put all that they have learned in this unit to use by visiting a website. Students will use prior knowledge to complete the lesson.
