The VIT University in its endeavour to admit quality students and those with aptitude to learn new things and passion for research conducted its eleventh edition of VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (pronounced as WITTY) as ComputerBasedTest(CBT)forthefirsttime. In a press release, VIT Founder and Chancellor Dr. G Viswanathan said that as many as 1,67,008 students had

appliedfortheentranceexamination,ofwhich1,28,513wereboys.Theexaminationw a s con ducted f r om April 15 , 201 3 toApril24,2013at130centresin112citiesacrossthecountry.FulfillingthedemandsofstudentsfromtheMiddle Eastcountries,wehaveputupacentreinDubaiandKuwaitalso,hesaid. Pointing out that Andhra Pradesh tops the list of aspirants with 33,412 students, followed by Uttar Pradesh with

25,695studentsandBihar,RajasthanandTamilNaduwith18,812;11,849and10,266studentsrespectively. Cities with the largest number of candidates are: Hyderabad 12729, Delhi 11728, Patna9613, Kota9296, Vijawayada8292. This year 16,895 more students took the examination than the last year, which shows the trust of students all overthecountryinVITsqualityandstandard. Results will be announced on May 6, 2013 in www.vit.ac.in, www.schools9.com, www.indiaresults.com,

www.minglebox.com,www.shiksha.com,www.bharathedu.com,www.examresults.net,www.instantexamresults.com. Counselling for the first 5000 candidates will begin on May 13, 2013; for candidates with ranking 5,001 to 9,000,

on May 14, 2013; for ranks between 9,001 to 12,000 on May 15, 2013; for ranks between 12,001 to 15,000 on May 16, 2013; for ranks between 15,001 to 18,000 on May 17, 2013 and for ranks 18,001 to 20,000 on May 18, 2013. The counsellingwillbeheldinbothVelloreandChennaiCampusessimultaneously. Noting that high scoring students from poor economic background should not be deprived of quality education,

Dr. Viswanathan said, under GV School Development Programme (GVSDP) scholarship scheme, 100 percent tuition fee waiver for theToppers of each State Boardand Central Board. Thecandidates with ranked from1 to50 in the VITEEE will get 75 percent of tuition fee waiver, the students ranked 51 100 in the VITEEE will get 50 percent of tuition fee waiver. Thestudentsranked1011000intheVITEEEwillhavetopayAnnualfees(Tuition&Specialfee):Rs.95,000/. Toppers in the Government schools from each of the rural and backward districts in Tamil Nadu who appeared

for VITEEE and secured top marks will be awarded 100 percent tuition fee waiver and full fee exemption for hostel and messundertheSupportTheAdvancementofRuralStudents(STARS)scheme.
