E. Procedure: 1. Project coin pictures on the wall and review the names and values of the coins. 2. Explain to the students that coins are made in mints. Pass out the blank coin chart (found on last page). I will write Classroom Coin on the board. Students will write Classroom Coin above the name (i.e. penny, nickel, etc.) The students will then color the coins whatever colors they choose, as long as coins of the same denomination are the same color. (i.e. both pennies are green, both quarters are yellow). 4. I will advise students that the Classroom Coins are not real money, and that they can only be used in our classroom. I will tell them to keep them in a safe place because they will need them for the next day! 5. CLOSURE: Explain to the students that money is made in a mint, and that it is illegal to make your own money to try and use at the store and other places.

F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? Student understanding of the concepts has been measured in the previous two lessons. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. Student understanding of the concepts has been measured in the previous two lessons. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I think the easiest to teach will be the how to label the coins. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? The hardest to teach will probably be the importance of not trying to use money you made to buy real things. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? I will follow up this lesson by teaching the students, in the next lesson plan, how consumers use money to buy things from producers. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? By this point, students should all grasp the basic concepts of money easily. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I might need to use the information from the virtual tour, but condense it into a shorter version because of the young age of the students. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part was creating the coin print-out.
