3 Reading Read the story and answer the questions. Check back to the story as often as you need. 1 point per correct answer. Shopping at the supermarket Fearne took her turquoise bike from its hooks on the wall and rode to the neighborhood supermarket. In the street she saw Miss Berlin, her old German teacher from high school, who was taking her black and white dog Hunter for a walk through the nice spring weather. Good evening Fearne!, she greeted, and waved with her moss-green scarf. Fearne waved back and rode on. While getting off her bicycle at the shopping center, she realized she had forgotten the shopping list she had made that afternoon while watching her favorite program, Celebrity Mastermind. Fortunately she had a good memory and knew most of it by heart: sugar, bread, white wine, purple lipstick, shampoo, chicken soup, plastic gloves, white chocolate bars, Earl Grey tea... the rest had slipped her mind. Humming to the background music Tom Jones' What's New Pussycat - Fearne almost crashed into the shop manager in her warm yellow uniform as she was collecting her shoppings. I'm sorry Mrs Kent!, Fearne apologized. That's okay Fearne, the manager replied. And what a lovely pink skirt you are wearing today! Glowing with pride Fearne continued and finally paid her things to Heidi, the darkhaired cash register girl in the yellow hat. She put away her sixty cents change, said goodbye and rode home. Quickly she checked the shopping list that was still lying on the wooden table, and discovered she had only forgotten to bring lettuce and shoe polish. Questions Name five of the items Fearne bought _________________________________________ What color had the scarf the teacher waved with? ___________________ What was the name of the dark-haired girl? ____________________ How many items had Fearne forgotten to buy? ________________ What season of the year was it in the story? _________________________ What was Fearne's favorite program? _____________________________ What part of the day was it in the story? ____________________________ What was the name of the person in the warm yellow uniform? ________________________ Who was the owner of Hunter? ______________________________ What did Fearne keep on hooks on the wall? ________________________

4 Writing Reproduce the below story in legible handwriting. Be accurate with regard to spelling, punctuation, upper and lower case letters etcetera. Don't forget the title. You lose 1 point for every error you make. The visitor Ding donngggg!, the bell went, and Fearne jumped up to open the front door and let her friend Heather in. Tea? Yes please, I'm SO thirsty! Heather crashed on the couch and kicked her shoes off. And my feet are killing me! Do you mind if I take them off? Help yourself! How CAN you walk on such high heels?! Practice, Fearne! Practice makes perfect! Just a few minutes a day in front of Mr Mirror works wonders! Fearne brought in the tea and they tried to drink it. Smells good, but too hot yet! I agree Heather. I wonder why tea always takes longer to cool down than coffee? Have you noticed that too? It's a mystery. Really? You are so observant! I never notice such things. Wow, you should become a rocket scientist! Hm? Do they receive Celebrity Mastermind in space too? Otherwise I'm not going! Hahahaha!!! The girls laughed. Celebrity Mastermind in space! What will we think of next! Reproduce the story here:

5 Spelling and grammar Again, reproduce the below story, but now correct any spelling and grammatic errors you find. Do not make stylistic changes to passages otherwise correct. You gain 1 point per correction but lose 1 point for every new error you make. The story of Faerne Hunter From childhood on Faerne had been fascinated by spinning wheels. Barely had her parents gave her a tricycle, or she would spent hours putting it upside down and spinning the wheels with her hands. Even as an adult, though otherwise completeley normal, she sometimes pursued this behavior with her bike. Another intrest of her was the live of the ancient piramyd builder Imhotep. Fearne enjoyed reading and watching documentary's about the genious architect. Often she wondered what it would have been like to live in those days and perhaps even meet the great Imhotep. Or be his wife! Or become a piramyd builder herself! In her sketchbook Fearne had drew pyramids she would liked to have built; they all had a spinning wheel on top. That was the way Fearne liked them best. As her good friend Heather would say: If it doesn't spin, Fearne isn't in. Write corrected version here:
