EXPERIENCE

I was working as DT (Drive Test) engineer for 8 months (11/201007/2011) for New Zone Company which is a subcontractor working in the field of telecommunications in Sudan. That job involved performing tests for new or swapped sites for telecommunications operators in Sudan (Sudani, Zain, MTN), to show and analyze their problems and involved performing other routine tests like cluster tests to show networks coverage and quality in specific area and complaint test to investigate and analyze complaints risen by subscribers.

Tests were made to experience the response to CS/PS call request (to test accessibility) and to show retainability of service (voice/data) throughout tested area and also to show signal characteristics (Rx level and quality). Tests also involved showing most important events occurrence like reselection and handover between cells in the network. Other tests were done to show data rates of various telecommunication systems (2.5G [EDGE], 3G [R99] and 3.75G [HSPA]). Some tests required measuring azimuth, mechanical and electrical tilt of antennas to ensure installation compliance with planning. Other cases were to be reported to different departments (BSS / installation) depending on the case to carry out the required action (missing neighbor configuration, 2G PS enhancement by allocating Abis idle TSs, VSWR alarm clearance, etc).

SW applications used for DT were Probe (Huawei product) or TEMS (Ericsson product) software applications. I had been also familiar with preparing signal characteristics (Rx level/quality) reports using Genex Assistant, and had good experience about DT reports using Genex Assistant (Huawei product).

That career required being in contact with various network specializations (installation, optimization, OMC and BSC) to solve problems found during tests. According to my experience in dealing with OMC staff, they are responsible for reporting alarms and taking some remedial actions (i.e. resetting sites) and determining state of nodes whether they are up or down and the reason if they are down. BSC engineers are responsible for preparing new/swapped/expanded sites scripts, handling alarms along with field engineers and also following transmission availability and status

I have worked since 07/2011 with Huawei radio network optimization team as Zain NPI project team member in Sudan. My career had included following tasks:

1) Preparing weekly KPI reports and a specific database using CME containing various configuration info about the network sites (neighbor list, BCCH frequencies, FP configuration of each site, Abis Time Slots assignment mode, Sites transmission type, etc) and other network nodes configurations.

2) Following up with drive test engineers the new/Huawei swapped sites and also to diagnose/apply solutions for problems found during DT and to report and analyze degraded KPIs for new/expanded sites.

3) Daily tracking of 2G network performance and KPIs degradation or improvement analysis and to provide optimization adjustment recommendations to improve performance of the network, and also handling subscribers complaints.

4) Frequency/neighbor relations re-planning and checkup.

5) Preparing scripts that are related to RNO procedures (e.g. neighbor relations/ HR thresholds setting for specific social occasions, etc...).

6) Following up with 3G network performance abnormal trends. I have good experience at 3G KPIs with some experience at 3G optimization.

My tasks have been done using Huawei OSS iManager M2000, PRS, CME, LMT MML MapInfo software applications and GENEX NASTAR.
