This user guide provides information relating to the installation of the LGP30 processor and its operational features. The LGP30 processor conforms to International Standard IEC60945 for Maritime navigation and radio communication equipment and systems. Only interface cards, and other equipment, that have been approved in accordance with IEC60945, may be used in conjunction with the unit. The LGP30 processor is a 1U 19 (483mm) wide x 390mm deep rack-mount case PC constructed in lightweight aluminium alloy and heavy duty cold rolled steel. It is has a black textured paint finish. A 19 1U rack is required, min depth 450mm, to suitably enclose the LGP30. Optional rack enclosures are available from John Lilley and Gillie Ltd.

APPROVALS The LGP30 has been designed and tested according to the following International Standard. IEC60945:2002 Maritime navigation and radio communication equipment and systems General requirements Methods of testing and required test results. Appropriate sections of the following International Standards have also been used as the basis of the optical tests on the associated monitor to ensure full ECDIS compliance when used as part of the Type Approved Navmaster ECDIS 800 system. IEC 61174: 2008 Maritime navigation and radio communication equipment and systems Electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS) Operational and performance requirements, methods of testing and required test results. IEC 62288: 2008. NMEA 0183 Input and Output (IEC 61162-1: 2001 [RS422] serial data)

For receipt and distribution of serial NMEA 0183 data, a 25 way D type subminiature connector, on the PCI card, is accessible at the rear of the LGP30 processor. See the rear view of the unit on page 2. This connector provides facility for 8 input channels and 4 output channels. Whilst a NMEA 0183 break-out box (BOBPC84) and connecting cable is available as an accessory for just this purpose, the following information is given to allow customers to provide for their own connections. All NMEA 0183 serial inputs and outputs are protected and isolated. 25 way pin out details are given below, see also drawing 3428-A3-7. 8 x INPUT CHANNELS CHANNEL 1: PIN 1 = NMEA A LINE PIN 14 = NMEA B LINE CHANNEL 2: PIN 2 = NMEA A LINE PIN 15 = NMEA B LINE CHANNEL 3: PIN 3 = NMEA A LINE PIN 16 = NMEA B LINE CHANNEL 4: PIN 4 = NMEA A LINE PIN 17 = NMEA B LINE CHANNEL 5: PIN 5 = NMEA A LINE PIN 18 = NMEA B LINE CHANNEL 6: PIN 6 = NMEA A LINE PIN 19 = NMEA B LINE CHANNEL 7: PIN 7 = NMEA A LINE PIN 20 = NMEA B LINE CHANNEL 8: PIN 8 = NMEA A LINE PIN 21 = NMEA B LINE * A twisted pair cable, 16/0.2 (0.5mm) cores, with overall screen, is recommended for carrying the NMEA 0183 serial data to other equipment. For connecting to the 25 Way D type socket, on the rear of the unit, a 25 way D type plug is required, with back-shell appropriate to the installation concerned. All NMEA 0183 inputs and outputs conform to IEC 61162-1:2001 Maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment and systems. Digital interfaces. Single talker and multiple listeners. For information on acceptable NMEA 0183 inputs, and available outputs, refer to Navmaster User Guide.

INSTALLATION

The LGP30 processor can be slotted and secured into a 19 1U rack; minimum 450mm deep. Optional mounting accessories are available from Lilley and Gillie Ltd. Note: Any alterations to ship superstructure to enable the fitting of this unit, or its enclosure, is not the responsibility of Lilley and Gillie Ltd or their agents / suppliers. See drawing 3436-A1-10 for outline of the LGP30.

CABLING A mains power cable is provided.

MAINTENANCE SERVICING: There are no user serviceable parts requiring routine maintenance.

FAULT FINDING: If power to the LGP30 is lost during operation, indicated by the extinguishing of the green POWER ON LED on the front of the unit, check that the connection lead has not become detached. Check the status and availability of the AC power supply itself. Check continuity through the power supply cable. Attempt to power up the unit using a known, working, IEC power lead. If these checks do not resolve problem then fault is most likely to be associated with the LGP30 itself. If the LGP30 locks up, the Power button on the front of the unit can be used for reset purposes. Press the button and hold down for minimum 4 seconds. After this period, the power to the unit will be cut off; indicated by the extinguishing of the green POWER ON LED. Wait a few seconds, then press and release the Power button. Power to the LGP30 will be restored and the PC will boot up as normal. If any problem arises in operation, check all cable connections at the LGP30 and between the LGP30 and all connected equipment to ensure that connections are well made. Check all cables for continuity.
