CEP 12 S A & B were admitted as one class this term but were split into two classes when the enrolment hit 67. This resulted in some time table changes towards the end of the term. The third year students who have been undergoing training at the Samsung Engineering Academy are due to complete their training on 15th December 2012. They will then proceed for attachment at various Samsung Service Centres for three months. After which they will graduate in April 2013. A new group of 25 students, who have already been selected from the Diploma year two will commence training in January 2013.

OBSERVATIONS There were a number of CRNM cases for various valid reasons like sickness, bereavement and fees though the following was noted. a) A trend of poor performance in exams administered has taken precedence from when the modular courses were introduced. This may have been contributed by the following factors: i. Apathy towards the exams by the students as they are aware that no penalties are pegged on poor academic performance as was the case in the TEP courses. ii. Low levels of consistent attendance of class due to fees related issues (Percentage attendance below the required threshold of 85%.) iii. Examination related issues particularly in cases where a student had pending examinations of a former or latter term that were carried over to a new term and had not yet been sorted out. iv. Lack of seriousness by students in their studies, this may be an indication of the extent to which teachers handle their duties in terms of content delivery, evaluation , monitoring, and guidance and counseling. b) This low performance is an early indicator of what to expect in the final exams that they sit for. It is therefore important mitigation measures are put in place to avert this trend. c) Some of the CRNM cases did not sit for any exam, this means they may have discontinued with the training, hence they should be removed from the system.
