If you sometimes find the Churchs teachings incomprehensible, be encouraged by todays Gospel. Recognizing how bewildered his disciples have become, Jesus says, I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. Then he promises that the Spirit of truth will come to make things clear. Even with the coming of the Spirit, we never fully understand. Today we hear the ancient poetry of the book of Proverbs, singing of Gods wisdom playing on the surface of his earth, delighting in humankind. We hear Paul boasting of his joynot only in the blessings God sends, but even in our afflictions. Theologians wrestle with the mystery of the Trinity; with the help of the Spirit they make that divine mystery a little more clear to the Church. We understand a little. But mostly we listen, we pray, and we ask the Spirit for more clarity.

From the Pastors Desk

Last weekend, we celebrated the Feast of Pentecost and according to the liturgical calendar of the church, the Easter season has ended. The liturgical period in Ordinary Time has begun, which will last until Advent. Today, we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Trinity, which calls us to the love, holiness and unity, which unites the Three Persons of the Holy Trinity. Let us pray to the Holy Spirit for unity and peace in every family and in the world. To better understand the mystery of the Holy Trinity and its unification, we have to receive the Eucharist, which is the highest form of unity between man and God. In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit it is both declaration of the mystery of the Holy Trinity and at the same time it is one of our shortest prayers. When we touch our forehead, we ask God the Father for the gift of wisdom. Upon touching our heart we ask Jesus Christ to grant us the gift of compassion and love, and when we reach our shoulders we ask the Holy Spirit to grant us valor. This Sign of the Cross is that what our parents have taught us. It is a clear and outward symbol of our faith and countless people have been baptized into the faith through the making of the Sign while others still have given their lives for it. On the 2nd of June, we will mark Corpus Christi. In St. Francis Borgia parish, following the 2:00pm multilingual Mass, we will hold a Eucharistic procession to four altars. I kindly request that our parishioners and friends prepare the altars. Let us pray that the feast day be another manifestation of our faith in the True Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. In the month of May we celebrate Mothers Day and in our parish we had a nine-day Novena for all of the Mothers, both living and deceased. Thank you for enrolling your Mothers in this Novena and for your offerings in their intentions. On June 16th we will celebrate Fathers Day and in our church we will have a nine-day Novena for all the Fathers. Please enroll your Father, living and deceased in this Novena. Fr. Rich

Our Sacrificial Gifts of Time, Talent, & Treasure

Faith can be Funny

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables; and when he picked up a CD player, a strange voice echoed from the dark saying, "Joshua is watching you." He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight off, and froze. When he heard nothing more after a bit, he clicked the light on and began searching again. Just as he pulled the stereo out, he heard, "Joshua is watching you." Terrified, he shined his light around looking for the source of the voice. Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot. "Did you say that?" he hissed at the parrot. "Yep," the parrot confessed, and then squawked, "I'm just trying to warn you." The burglar relaxed. "Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you? "Moses," replied the bird. "Moses?" the burglar laughed. "What kind of people would name a bird Moses?" "The kind of people that would name a Rottweiler Joshua."
