Preparation: The teacher will need to gather pictures of different types of dinosaurs, carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. Procedure: (step by step) *Beginning (How will I introduce activity?) During large group we will have a discussion about different types of dinosaurs. I will tell them: All dinosaurs were different Can you tell me how they were different? What did they like to do? What kind of food did they eat? Do you guys think they all liked the same food? There were many different types of dinosaurs. Some were called carnivores. Does anyone know what is a carnivore? Some were called herbivore. Do you guys know what was a herbivore?

And some were omnivores. Do you know what an omnivore was? I will elaborate on the answers they give me depending on the answer. I will start out asking these questions to have a conversation and help the children get some knowledge about dinosaurs. I will then say to them: Okay we are not going to go to our groups, when I call your name stand up. I will begin to call the first group, Mrs. Mijares, and I will say to them stomp like a dinosaur to Mrs. Mijares. I will then call Mrs. Chicas group, I will say to them, fly like a dinosaur. I will then call my group and I will say, roar like a dinosaur. *Middle: (How will I support/enhance/scaffold?) When we are at our table I will say to them: Well all dinosaurs are different and they all like to eat different foods. Do you like to eat different food? Who likes hamburgers and hotdogs? People eat meat to. Just like dinosaurs you are carnivores. Who only eats salad? Only green salad. You would be an herbivore? Who likes both salads and hamburgers?

Then you would be an omnivore.

The questions I ask are so the children can relate themselves to the dinosaurs. I will have the poster board of the different types of dinosaur pictures to compare physical traits. We are also just like dinosaurs because of the things we eat. Now look at the dinosaurs. What do you think these dinosaurs like to eat (carnivores)? Why do you think they like to eat that? They do like to eat meat. Look at their teeth, are they sharp? Do you think they need that to eat the meat? Does it stand on two legs or four legs? Yea on two legs, do you think thats why they run fast? Now, look at them, are they big or small? Oh, well now look at these dinosaurs (herbivores). What do you think these dinosaurs like to eat? Why do you think they like to eat that? They do like to eat leaves. Look at their teeth, are they sharp? Do you think they need that to eat the meat? Does it stand on two legs or four legs?

Yea on four legs? Now, look at them, are they big or small? What about their necks are they big or small? Oh but now look at these dinosaurs (omnivores). Look at their teeth. Are their teeth sharp? Do you think thats why they eat leaves. What do you think these dinosaurs like to eat? Why do you think they like to eat that? These are omnivores. Which dinosaur do they look like? Do they look like carnivores or do they look like herbivores. Look at their teeth are their teeth sharp?

If there is any child who is not engaged I will ask them a question directly. I will ask them, what do you think this dinosaur likes to eat? Do you like that too? *End: (How will I bring activity to conclusion and transition to next activity?) Now here is some paper and you can draw your own dinosaur.

I will ask the children individually what they dinosaur they are going to make. I will ask them what your favorite type of dinosaur was. I will let them know that there is only about 5 minutes left to finish our dinosaurs.

I will write down what the children say about their drawing.

I will then say to them, okay can you walk like a carnivore to the carpet? Can you walk like a herbivore to the carpet? We will sit on the blue line to wait for dismissal.
